Transformers: Devastation (10/6/15- Developed by Platinum Games for PS4, PS3, X1,360)

Transformers: Devastation is an action game in a similar vein to Platinum Games' other titles. Players will be able to control one of five Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock as they battle against Decepticon forces in large 3D environments. Gameplay will include fast paced combos as well as the ability to switch between vehicle and Transformer mode.

The game is part of the Transformers: Generations line, though its visual design is most strongly inspired by the original The Transformers TV series. Several voice actors from the show, including Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), Dan Gilvezan (Bumblebee), Michael Bell (Sideswipe), Gregg Berger (Grimlock) and Frank Welker (Megatron, Soundwave), reprise their respective voice roles

I REALLY like Platinum Games. When they got some love for something it rules. I hope this is great game though I'm not fond of the gameplay style used for them this them but... whatever. I hope it's good. Sad to hear we'll never get a proper finale to High Moons 2 good games. A bit before the last TF movie came out Activision fucked them over leaving them w/ crap and apparently that mix of their previous TF games and the movie universe was pretty crappy. Seems like Activision is letting PG have damn near free rein on this as long as it falls within the parameters of the property. Out of this we're also getting a webseries w/ Machinima called Transformers: Combiner Wars too. All based on the G1 designs made for the adult fans. Geeky shit for us essentially. Good time to be a TF fan for now.

Uhhh... huh?

I loved the previous 2 High Moons games.

I also dig the art of this game, reminds me of the series.

I didn't even know Rise of the Dark Spark tied into High Moons games at all, I thought it was just another skip able movie game.

I'm psyched for the classic designs, though... The combiner wars toy line is fantastic as well.

I meant that we'd NEVER get a sequel to it. They ended on Fall of Cybertron w/ the greatest tease to TF fans. I LOVED Fall so much. It fixed everything that War got wrong. Massive upgrade in visuals too.

Rise of the Dark Spark isn't a part 3 to the Cybertron games but it's set in the same world as it as well as the movie verse. Two different worlds essentially to fool about in. And it is a VERY skippable game.

Yeah. Again... I'm happy for this just not a fan of the hack and slash element for them but that easily gets overridden cuz it's PG doing this.

Yeah, those games were so much better than they had any right to be.

I think this new game looks awesome, but the gameplay means it will probably be just a rental curiosity for me. Hack and slash games just can't hold my attention these days, even though I spent hours and hours playing them back in the day.

This is probably my most anticipated game. I love hack and slash, Platinum and Transformers. I'm really hyped for this.

I hope they have a lot of a variety in that combat cuz supposedly that Legend of Korra game had simplistic to point of boring variety in the action. Hack and Slash can go so bad in today's world of gaming.

This is what I was thinking we'd get in terms of gameplay, variety, and length. I'll get it when I get a PS4.

I certainly want this, mostly cause of the voice work and the old school feel to the graphics (following along the lines of the original cartoon). But I don't know about the $50 price tag since it does seem awfully short according to first impressions. We'll see, I'll probably wait for a price drop or so.

Yeah. That price tag is a lot for what you're getting.

I'll definitely pick this up, but have more than enough backlog to make it easy to wait for a substantial price drop. I wouldn't be surprised to see it less than $20 around Black Friday.

Holy crap this game came outta no where for me. Tons of fun so far. for $50 it seems like a steal. But its hard to fit in between side ops in MGSV and DragonballZ XV.

Re: Transformers: Devastation (10/6/15- Developed by Platinum Games for PS4, PS3, X1,

I rented this from the library and so far it's been pretty dull. Yeah, there is some nostalgia since it's G1 Transformers, but it's been a fairly repetitive and dumbed down action game. Kinda disappointed since it's from Platinum, so I figured it would have over the top action sequences, but not so far. I might put another hour in, but I'm probably going to end up returning it before I finish it.

I saw this in a store yesterday for $20. Is it worth it?

Read post #16... if it's dull (and free), then $20 is too much.

It'll be cheaper in a flash sale eventually. I still highly recommend it for fans of old school transformers, though, the art style is perfect, and it's a decent Platinum game, just short and repetitive at times. If the TMNT game was closer to this one I would've picked it up (not at full price or anything, but eventually)

I never would have played this if it wasn't a PS+ game since I have zero interest in the license but just finished it and it was a solid hack/slash game with a great art style and solid voice acting.
