I loved, loved the first season. It was possibly one of my favorite horror seasons of all time. Penny Dreadful is literate, edgy and dark. We can hope season two is half as good as season one.

I liked the premiere. The actress playing Evelyn is great at a playing evil. I liked the introduction of the wax museum and it looks like something will happen with Frankenstein creature and the blind girl and possible new triangle could happen as a result.

Great show. The evil satanist/witch lady and her crew rule.
I suppose Frankenstein's monster is going to have a love triangle between the blind girl and his new "wife".
Why? Who is she? She has something about being nude?
EDIT: Oh she was in the Call Girl series. I thought she looked familiar. Why do you believe that wasn't her body?

Billie Piper is best known for playing Rose Tyler on Doctor Who so seeing her completely naked is kind of a big geek score.
I would reckon that all of her nudity in this episode was either a dummy or a body double. The bits where she's not moving were probably a dummy (that could be held underwater for extended periods of time) and the parts where she climbed out of the tank were shot and edited in a way that indicates a body double.

Re: Penny Dreadful (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Fresh Hell" -- 5/3/15
I think she did originally do the nudity on Secret Diary of a Call Girl, but I don't think she did any full frontal which would actually make sense for that show. Then, I think she got pregnant and stopped doing any nudity on that show and they just used body doubles from that point on. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, I just find it hard to imagine her now doing the amount of nudity that appeared to happen in this season premiere. I figured the stuff in the tank had to be some sort of dummy and when she got out of the tank they didn't show her face in the same shots as her body.

Great episode. I enjoyed the scene with Frankenstein's creature and Vanessa. Evelyn's daughter is scary and that scene was chilling.

Intriguing woman with a secret? I'd say a schlong is more than a secret! When that scene happened at the table with Dorian, I was like, that woman is very man-ish. Confirmed!

WTF. That was one disturbing ending.
Yes, I don't think he/she was fooling anyone. They could have done better.

That fancy pants museum guy whose name I'm too lazy to look up right now killed it in this episode. He's hilarious.

Yeah, he was great. Love how he ignored the rest of the insults to indignantly protest that his hair is real. A man can only take so much offense....
Eva Green has the most expressive eyes. If any director needs to cast a role in which the actor's face is largely obscured by a helmet for long stretches, she can just send in her eyeballs while the rest of her goes to Cannes.

This series continues to be really good. That last scene with the train and the then the lair with the dolls.....well it was once of the creepiest and disturbing things i have seen in a while. The atmosphere they produce on this show is what gives it real strength, along with the top notch acting. Glad Piper got rid of her terrible Oirish accent.
I hope Dorian Greys character gets a bit more to do. His is the one character that feels is not moving forward very much. Still, early days for this show.

Great episode. Patti Lupone was great in her guest role. I liked the mentor/mentee relationship between Patti's character and Vanessa.
