Bryan Singer @BryanSinger

Pre-Order X-Men #DOFP #RogueCut July 14th release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD! @XMenMovies
http://bit.ly/RogueCutDHD
From April 2nd:

Bryan Singer @BryanSinger

For the record the Rogue Cut of #Xmen #DOFP is more than 17 minutes longer than the original cut. And has a few little changes I made.
Likely the cover artwork, found on the Digital HD page:

Ouch. I hope that horrid bit of Photoshop is not the cover.

Could be, though. This is an image floating around for a foreign steelbook release:

I took a survey about possible cover art (not the one they picked, it seems) a few months back and it specifically said that both the theatrical and extended versions would be included.

That's strange, since Fox Home Entertainment's James Finn stated that both cuts wouldn't be included when asked about that. Wonder if that's changed.

James Finn @FinnJ

no. Distinct film. Distinct extras. Complimentary to DOFP Blu-ray but not repetitive.

While I enjoyed the movie I thought the theatrical cut had too much going on and needed trimming. I can't imagine adding more scenes will strengthen this movie.

Terrible cover. Still curious what else is different though.

Perhaps there's a bundle release?

I'm still miffed about the lack of 3D in this release.

Not buying this. DOFP has one of the tightest plots of any superhero movie. I cannot imagine this extra footage adds anything to the movie.

Skipped the original so I'm down for this... but that is a horrendous cover.

However, Rogue/Paquin doesn't do anything for me so I didn't really miss her in the film.

shouldn't Rogue be up and center?

so this cut is bypassing the theater all together then... right?

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past - Rogue Cut -- July 14th, 2015

Kinberg on it:

“The Rogue subplot was originally there because I wanted a mission for the older Charles and Eric to do, something like Unforgiven – two last gunslingers, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman – that kind of a mission for them. I just loved the idea of that. Nothing in the story necessitated that, but just for a lark, I thought it would be a cool thing to see, because we may never see it again.

“When I initially wrote that, Kitty’s power was running out, and there was this super silly serum that was down in a farmhouse… it was terrible. I don’t even think it went to script, but it went to outline, and [First Class writer/director] Matthew Vaughn said it was terrible, and he was right.”

“Then I thought that if her power was winding down, they needed something stronger or someone who could take over her power. This came from a conversation with Matthew, which was about no-one having the same power as her but then realising there was someone who could take her power. I got chills. Rogue could be the McGuffin of that mission. They’d have to get Rogue out of some dark scary place, and that’s what happens. It’s a really nice sequence, and it’ll end up on Blu-ray some way down the line.

“But it does not service the main story. I thought it would increase the urgency and the stakes of the plot in the future, but it actually does the opposite, because it makes you feel like there is an answer out there. You think once Rogue gets here, we’ll have an unlimited amount of time. The ticking clock that we’d established with Kitty getting wounded and losing her powers… well, Rogue would show up and press stop on the clock. So for all of those narrative reasons, there was this ten-minute subplot that had to go.”

Didn't Rogue take the "cure" in 3?

I'm guessing the Sentinels tail Charles and Erik after they rescue Marie. That would explain how the sentinels found them coincidentally when Kitty was bleeding out.

So did Magneto. But the last shot of The Last Stand shows that it was beginning to wear off. The "cure" was more of a suppression treatment than a one-time fix.

But then Beast apparently made the cure decades before Leech was born so.... X-Men plot inconsistency/continuity error #1987745543975?

Looks like the Rogue Cut will, apparently, include both versions of the film:

I've been waiting on this version and passed on the Theatrical release. I'm hoping this version is packed with special features.

Funny I thought the opposite. I thought it had so much plot and characters that it could have been flushed out a little more. 17 minutes is good, but i was hoping for at least 30.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past - Rogue Cut -- July 14th, 2015

17 minutes is good, but if the bulk of that is dedicated to the removed Rogue scene I'd be surprised if you get close to what you're looking for.
