Just saw this last night. It was good to see Bobby again even in a limited part.

One can only hope when we're dead that we can be reclining and listening to music in the after life.

Best episode in a while. Good to have Bobby back. The Dean and Crowley bromance was nicely played too.

It's very possible Beaver grew tired of shooting in Canada. That seems to be a serious problem for successful actors that aren't the main stars (read as getting paid major dollars) of these CW shows.

I assume that judging by the amount of stuff shot there, Vancouver has hard-to-beat tax breaks for TV schedules?

Mounting a production in California is far more expensive since you have to deal with the much higher cost of living, the tax situation, and union employees.

I'm not sure any CW show films in California anymore.

I talked to Jim Beaver on my TV Guidance Counselor Podcast a few months ago and it sounded like he would have been more than happy to continue being a regular on the show and was just as shocked as anyone else to find out they were killing his character.

That is interesting, I guess the show was tired of paying him. All the money goes to keep Sam and Dean happy.

It sounds like the season he got killed they were grasping at straws and making it up as they went along. Having a major character killed is an easy dramatic device, so he just ended up getting stuck with being the dead one.

They kind of left Bobby's fate up in the air at the end of the episode, so I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up again soon.

My guess is that it came down to either Bobby or Castiel, the budget probably didn't allow both actors at once.
