The Kickboxer: City of Blood (D: Pyun) - S: Mitchell, Chan, Estelle

Okay, most of you are aware of the new Kickboxer remake. Well, apparently there is a separate Kickboxer movie that is an actual sequel to the original series with Sasha Mitchell returning as David Sloan and Dennis Chan returning as Xian to make things more confusing. Kevin Sorbo is reportedly part of the cast. They supposedly began filming in February, but Pyun is reportedly in poor health due to his MS condition. He has been posting a lot of Facebook about his latest film Road to Hell.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3666260/

THE KICKBOXER

Synopsis
David Sloan (Sasha Mitchell), is chosen to escort an American aide worker, Jenny Reynolds (Clare Kramer), a witness to a cold blooded rape and murder of three Somali female aide workers, to the local magistrate across Mogadishu. The murder was staged to look like it was committed by a UN Peacekeepers. But Jenny recognizes the killer as wearing a UN Peacekeeper's uniform but is a al-Shabaab terrorist name Siad Ali and not a real UN soldier.

Sloan is a damaged survivor of the al-Shabaab terrorist group attack on a village in Northern Kenya. He is now a partially crippled man working for the UN multi-national Peacekeeping troops in Somalia, trying to lead a quiet life. He is mocked by his fellow UN Peacekeepers for being an ex-kickboxing champion in a MMA world. He is seen as an antiquated man in a modern time. The UN Peacekeepers working for al-Shabaab think Sloan is too damaged and remote to cause trouble or incapable of protecting Jenny.

Sloan's CO, Captain Holmes (Michael Tushaus) tells Sloan to get Jenny to the magistrate so she can testify to him him that a UN soldier was not involved. This truth must get out before the local population hears the lie and riots.

Sloan picks up Jenny from a UN prison and safely ushers out of the UN headquarters and past two French UN soldiers, Bastien (Scott Paulin) and Thiry (Norbert Weisser) on al-Shabaab's payroll. Jenny wears a traditional head scarf and robe which masks her identity as Sloan spirits her out.

Later we learn that al-Shabaab staged the murders to incite the Somali people to be outraged and riot. This will allow al-Shabaab insurgents to enter the city and force the UN out. It is revealed that al-Qaeda is actually behind the plot and want Mogadishu to be another Benghazi type unrest masking terrorists attacks on the UN and U.S. Presence in Somalia.

After narrowly avoiding an attempt on their lives, Sloan is forced into a kill or be killed chase as he flees the al-shabaab action to kill Jenny and now.

Unfortunately, Sloan and Jenny seemingly don’t stand a chance against Siad Ali’s ruthless (and blood-drenched) attempts at killing Jenny. He gathers several dozen UN turncoat soldiers and hundreds of heavily armed al-Shabaab terrorists to prevent Sloan from getting Jenny to the magistrate.

The action covers the gamut from hand to hand martial arts fights to a Bourne style car action sequence, to several raging gun battles through the streets of Mogadishu. The ferocity of the attacks serve to awaken Sloan to show Siad Ali that he is still a formidable man.

Albert Pyun announced in January on his website that Julie Estelle aka Hammer Girl from The Raid 2 was cast

Happy New Year everyone! I know I'm 14 days late but it's been ridiculously busy getting The Kickboxer: City of Blood ready. Lots of details and its been a nightmare scheduling it all. Because we could not getting schedules in sync to start shooting in January so we could be finished by the Chinese New Year holiday period, we've moved the start date after the New Year holiday in China. So we will begin shooting February 26th. Thanks to the two producers I'm working with, Jenry Luk of Ace Studios and Mike Leeder, they have made this all possible. They are probably the best producers I've worked with in 30 years. Mike has connected with an Indonesian actress named Julie Estelle and her manager to come aboard to play "Tun" the secret police agent who wants to capture and kill Jenny (Clare Kramer). Julie adds a lot to the film as Julie was "Hammergirl" in RAID 2. Ferocious. Dennis Chan is confirmed as well to join Sasha Mitchell and Clare Kramer. More news to follow as we begin lock cast in place. I've been trying new therapies and treatments to build up my stamina and mental clarity - Albert.

Yikes this sounds awful. But can't lie, as much as I enjoy the old movies that might be a day one purchase for me.

Yeah, this sounds awful. The only good Kickboxer movie was the first one with Van Damme. All the sequels with Mitchell sucked. I would watch a new movie with Van Damme, but I have zero interest in a movie with Mitchell.

Why are they making two Kickboxer movies simultaneously? Are they trying to copy Marvel and make a Kickboxer Cinematic Universe? That would be so hilariously dumb that I would want to see it happen just to see it fail hard.

Do not want. The Sasha movies were a joke when I was a kid.

Guess I'm the only one who actually liked the Sasha movies. They were so ridiculous and low budget that I always found them pretty entertaining. If nothing else they were easily better than part 5. That's when the series really jumped the shark even though I always wondered what the supposed plot for Kickboxer six was going to be.

I'm confused. Didn't they kill off Sasha Mitchell (with another actor, of course) in one of the DTV Kickboxer sequels, much like how they killed of Van Damme's character in Mitchell's first movie? I seem to recall the lead of that sequel being Mark Dacascos.

Ummm ... has anyone seen what Sasha Mitchell looks like today. The guy is a huge muscle-head.
Sounds the same, but he looks nothing like he did in the movies or "Step by Step". Fucking huge.

That said. I was a fan of the movies so I look forward to seeing this one. I always liked his goofy character play.

Yes they killed his character off by using silhouettes in the opening credits of K5 and Mark Dacascos was the star.

Thanks. I like Dacascos but I remember that bullshit pissed me off. It's really all I remember about the movie.
