I still don't get the Kaylee "oversight" but great episode.
Pretty sure this is where the plot is heading:

So what do you think? Gus is shown or atleast mentioned in the finale? I feel its a little too soon to start bringing that in... but I'm guessing one of the conditions of this getting a 2 season pick up was bringing in those BB mythos at some point. Season 1 free reign to do what they want and lay groundwork, while Season 2 starts to link more closesly to BB.

Loved the use of Handsome Boy Modeling School's "The Truth" in this episode. That's one of my favorite grooves.

It's funny because even though they used the instrumental, J-Live's verse is built around legal jargon. Well played, music supervisor.

I got a kick out of Saul realizing the recycling bins were there after he went dumpster diving.

Considering how little we've seen him, I wonder why Michael Mando is still listed as a series regular. He must do something in the last two episodes.

Wow, what a great episode. I wonder what number they were prepared to settle for? Certainly at least a million. Maybe I am weird but I actually found this episode exciting as all the elements of the show finally come together, especially his brother. It doesn't seem like such a weak thread anymore. Too bad Jimmy will get screwed over once again, on the other hand he simply did not have the knowledge to get the case where it needed to go anyway.
On Gus and BB stuff, I think that can wait for quite a while. Gus and Walter and Jesse will all show up but maybe not until late in the run. With it's ratings, this will be a 4 or 5 year show minimum. Will have a GOT painful wait in 2 episodes.

Definitely another solid episode. I liked seeing Jimmy and Chuck working on the Sand Piper case together and agree that the stuff with Chuck was really gelling tonight and didn't seem out of place like it somewhat has in other episodes. Also the cold open was nice to see and to get some more background on Jimmy's beef with Howard. I feel bad for him as it seems like he's trying to do the right thing at this point but seemingly gets stepped on by others often.
It seems like this episode sort of hinted at Mike turning down a dark path for similar reasons as Walt first did (or at least claimed was his reason) and seemingly does what he does to take care of Stacey and Kaylee. Granted he already was dirty but I think him turning into more of a criminal might come from that.

Agreed!
Yeah, that's good stuff. What's it been used for before?
I think they did a lot more than hint at it. They made it pretty clear that Mike is looking to make some real money to support them.

Great episode. Loved the recycling can reveal.
I think this is the first serial drama lawyer series I've watched, and I like it 10x better than the procedural ones. How many other lawyer themed serial dramas have there been? (Truely serialized and not procedural at all) I'm more into cop/law enforcement shows, so lawyer shows are barely on my radar. I did watch Franklin and Bash.

I would wager that Gus shows up eventually, at least in Mike's storyline. From what we saw in BB, I don't know if Saul ever met Gus, or even knew who he was.
I've also noticed Michael Mando in the opening credits. Since he's only been in about three episodes and he's listed as a regular, we can assume they have plans for Nacho.
Anyone else thinking that Jimmy working with Chuck, who is still a partner at HHM, on the Sandpiper case is going to come back and bite him in the ass?

Without a doubt.
My guess is they get a pretty substantial chunk of whatever money Jimmy gets off the Sandpiper case. That might even be the last straw before Jimmy becomes Saul. Maybe they give him just enough to buy his strip mall office and make him change his name.

Saul did say that, but I am not sure it is 100% true. He said something like friend of friend to Waly, but Mike works directly for him, and later events hint that he does know Gus more than as a friend of a friend but probably not enough to have a huge number of scenes with him. Easily retconned if they want to though.

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E08) -- "RICO" -- 3/23/15
Saul said at one point that he never actually met Gus and only knows of him through Mike.
I didn't necessarily think that at first just because I didn't expect both Chuck and Kim to betray him, but I did think something was going to happen because of it because of the bad blood between Howard and Jimmy. The more I read that theory about him being being betrayed is what sparks his turn into Saul what happens it is making a lot of sense.

I liked that they used the open to show us what a hard worker Jimmy was and then reiterated it later in the episode when he was working with his brother.
I personally hope they wait a little while before they give us Saul. I think they can still mine Jimmy without being boring.
