How many Live+3 shows do you watch?

The thread on a lot of content got me thinking. How many shows do you consistently watch live or within 3 days of being recorded?

Doesn't matter if it's broadcast, basic cable, or premium but let's not take into account anything that airs exclusively on non-TV streaming services.

I'd say it's around 7-8 within 3 days. I don't watch anything live anymore, sports being an exception. I can't stand commercials.

I'll usually watch 30 min shows within a day or two, but some hour long shows will sit for a few days or longer until I can fit them in.

Very rarely will I let a TV show sit on the DVR for more than three days, and they never make it past a weekend.

I figure that if I am not that eager to watch a show, then why am I recording it in the first place?

Bob's Burgers, Always Sunny and Broad City are the only 3 I watch as soon as I can post-air. Most dramas I watch post season, other sitcoms within a week.

I rarely watch anything within 3 years of it's broadcast.

Depends. A few staples are within a few days. Others the same day (the voice), but we built up a 20-40 minute buffer. That way it's done by the time we get to the end. Others sometimes have groupings stack up.

Many advertisers still think the Live+3 rating is largely worthless for their purposes. The networks emphasize it because many shows are heavily DVRed.

There are only a few scripted shows each week I feel need to be seen immediately within a day of airing. Mostly the ones that have a large following and the water cooler talk is a key element of their provided entertainment.

Sundays - Revenge, The Royals
Fridays - Hawaii Five-0, 12 Monkeys

Sundays and Fridays for the reason that I'm usually home with nothing to do. (ie. I don't go clubbing nor much of anything else these days).

I would agree with the advertisers but there's still good value for first and last commercials during an advertising block. Every once in a while (less than once per show) I will see those because I didn't fast forward correctly OR the advertisement seemed interesting.

If it's a scripted show, within three days. If it's some random reality show (Pawn Stars for example), I save a handful and watch them when there is nothing else to watch.

Re: How many Live+3 shows do you watch?

We watch zero live, 5 or 6 within 3 days. It is impossible to watch shows with commercials. There are too many and they are too long. Trying to watch a show that has you really involved and then having an ad every 6 minutes is infuriating. And to top it off almost all commercials are unwatchable. They are just stupid. The whole system needs to be rethunked.

Re: How many Live+3 shows do you watch?

I watch most shows within a day of being recorded. I hardly watch any live TV. I like more control then that.

I no longer watch live TV, unless I'm channel surfing. I just DVR my shows and watch them and blow through the commercials.
