Saw a friend link this on Facebook and it kind of blew my mind because i've never heard of this before, and i'm genuinely surprised that I haven't heard it come up ever during the last few decades.

More specifically, you start in the first level of the world you died in. I knew a lot of the other things mentioned in the thread; the Konami code everyone knows, the one up trick in World 3, controlling the duck in Duck Hunt, putting your name as ZELDA in the Legend of Zelda. But I'm fairly certain I never heard of this.

Any of you guys know of this? Any other random little tricks or things in old games that were unique that you didn't find out until later in life?

No way. That would have come out decades ago if it was true. Sounds like something that would be in a ROM or put in later releases like All*Stars.

My Other Self

The Minus World was the ultimate trick in Super Mario Bros. since it took me awhile to be able to do it. I've never heard of this one, though.

I've also never known about the Zelda and Duck Hunt tricks mentioned in the first post.

Being able to warp in Super Mario Bros. 2 was something I only found out about maybe 5 years ago. Back in the late 80s / early 90s when I played it all the time I had no idea you could warp.

The "ghost" in the dark world swamp in A Link to the Past.

The "Chris Houlihan" room also in A Link to the Past.

I never heard of either of those until reading about them decades later on the internet.

I played a LOT of Punch Out and could beat Tyson pretty easily, but still always had trouble with this timing. That and Sandman.

Late to the thread, but I absolutely remember the A+Start trick in SMB to start at the beginning of the current world after Game Over. Used it all the time as a kid. I thought it was one of those things everyone knew about.

This game and Track & Field were two of my favorite games from this era... I still fire up Super Punch Out from time to time.
