Marilyn Manson "The Pale Emperor" - Jan. 20, 2015
Manson is back with what I consider his best album in at least a decade. If you liked "Mechanical Animals" you should really enjoy this. (for what it's worth, I think his work for about 10 years has been pretty lousy, don't even remember hardly any of the songs.)
The guy who did Guardians of the Galaxy score & music for TV show Californication , Tyler Bates, worked on this with him, and you can tell the difference. It's a good record. Probably up there with some of his best stuff, including the full track for the opening to the show Salem, "Cupid Carries A Gun."
Album is streaming here: http://genius.com/albums/Marilyn-man...e-pale-emperor
Tracklist:
1. "Killing Strangers" 5:36
2. "Deep Six" 5:02
3. "Third Day of a Seven Day Binge" 4:26
4. "The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles" 4:57
5. "Warship My Wreck" 5:57
6. "Slave Only Dreams to be King" 5:20
7. "The Devil Beneath My Feet" 4:16
8. "Birds of Hell Awaiting" 5:05
9. "Cupid Carries a Gun" 4:59
10. "Odds of Even" 6:22

Count me as another who has loathed his input for at least the last decade. But the one single I heard sounded promising, and with a MA vibe and Bates' input I'll at least click the "download torrent" button.

Me too. I'm a huge fan of Mechanical Animals, still listen to it, so if this new one is comparable, I will definitely give it a listen.

Not a big Manson fan, but Third Day of a Seven Day Binge is a great song, and the few others I have heard were pretty solid as well.

Nobody likes Heart Shaped Glasses? Not a big MM fan but really liked that song since the first time I heard it.

Dear god no. That song is a perfect example of everything that has been wrong with Manson the past 12 years. I am so happy with the new album after the garbage that was Eat Me Drink Me and The High End of Low. Born Villain was pretty good, but not great.

I'm on track 3 and I can already say this is his best work in a long while. Never thought I'd enjoy listening to his stuff again, but here I am.

The deluxe edition has 3 bonus tracks, which are supposedly acoustic.
The regular album just has the 10 songs.

Listened to the full deluxe edition today for the first time. Only downlaoded it because of the positive comments here. I had basically forgot he was still making music.
Haven't heard any of his other recent ablums, but I agree this new release is quite good. I would put it up there with the best material he was doing during his peak of populatirty. Just wonder how many will hear it given many are probably like me thinking he was done years ago.

I wasn't even going to give it a listen until this thread... Easily his best in a decade+ Right up there with Mechanical Animals for me.

I listened to it this morning. It was pretty good, but I guess I'm just not a big fan of his anymore. It was definitely better than everything after Holy Wood, but IMO, it doesn't touch that album or Mechanical Animals. Not on the first listen, anyway. The alternate version bonus tracks on the "deluxe" edition are pretty good, though. I like one of them better than the original version.

He's certainly back to form isn't he?
His live shows have been going downhill ever since Holy Wood though, let's hope he surprises me on that front as well.

Doubtful. I saw him back in '09 and I felt so out of place at the show. It was all the Hot Topic crowd of angsty teens, and he kept doing his usual schtick of trying to sound offensive/cool but it just came across like a teenager trying to sound badass.

did anyone get the 2LP version from Amazon? Was there anything other than the cover and the download code, was surprised there was no other artwork included, nothing to even tell you who is in the band or who wrote the songs, kinda disappointed.

Picked up the deluxe CD from Best Buy today. While I like the packaging, I hate when artists don't include a booklet with lyrics and liner notes. Out of curiosity, for anyone that got the standard edition, are lyrics included?

I have it but have not opened it. I have the regular LP version (not the white variant) and it does have the bonus tracks according to the back cover.

Anyone have an idea what the GoHastings exclusive vinyl is? Picture shows a white lp, but I was wondering if that is the case.

I was under the impression they were 3 different songs.

The songs were pretty cool but they were 3 of the same songs re-titled. It was vocals, acoustic guitar, and drums. They were really good, though. I also liked the clear mylar bag looking LP sleeves.
