Episodes (Showtime) - Season 4 Thread - premieres 1/11/15
In the hilarious, award-winning, critically-acclaimed comedy series, EPISODES, from creators David Crane (Friends) and Jeffrey Klarik (Mad About You), Matt LeBlanc plays an outrageous version of himself, for which he won a Golden Globe(R) and received multiple Emmy(R) nominations for 'Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series.' Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig, two of the crown jewels of British comedy, are Sean and Beverly Lincoln, an English couple whose hit U.K. sitcom is remade for U.S. audiences and corrupted beyond recognition. At the start of the fourth season, Matt faces a financial crisis and is forced to make some tough decisions. Matt being Matt, he will likely make the wrong ones. Sean and Beverly have been dragged back to LA to shoot more episodes of their disastrous sitcom "Pucks!" Meanwhile, their other project "The Opposite of Us" refuses to go away. And there's a new head of the network who will, in all likelihood, make life more complicated for everyone. This season fortunes are lost, hearts are broken, egos are crushed, careers are ruined, sex tapes are revealed, and large amounts of vodka are consumed. Just another day in Hollywood. EPISODES, which in its first three seasons earned Emmy, BAFTA and Golden Globe awards and nominations, is executive produced by Jimmy Mulville through his Hat Trick production company and is a co-production of SHOWTIME and the BBC.

Season 2 is in the top 3 funniest seasons of any television comedy ever for me. I didn't find last season nearly as funny, but I'm still looking forward to this.

Loved it. Great 1st episode.
Immigration Officer: "What is your business in America?"
Beverly: "Matt LeBlanc"
I was at how miserable everyone was going back to the set of Pucks after it got renewed.
Poor Carol. She just gets screwed over left and right. I'm guessing Merc is going to have a much bigger role this season after being relegated to a really minor part.
at how Matt was antagonizing Sean and Beverly about their money situation. I hope this script deal and show takes a bigger part of the season to mix things up outside of Pucks.

I liked this season premiere a lot. First time I've watched the show live instead of catching up. Some funny stuff this week.
"I made up that part about my grandfather"
Were the Pucks kids at the table read? I didn't see them.
Also thought the time frame was too condensed. Two or three days after they leave LA they're already back and shooting the next episode? That didn't ring true. They should have let a couple of months elapse.

Showtime programs don't end up on Netflix until the series is completely done.

"God damn it, am I the only one who didn't have a feeling?"
"You had a hit show!"
"In England"
"It's still a country!"
God I love this show. Matt LeBlanc is so god damn good in this. It's criminal he doesn't get more recognition for how good he is.

Well he was nominated multiple times for the Golden Globe and Emmy, and did win the GG one year....

Plus there's that stigma that somehow "playing yourself" means you're not really acting.
And of course the Emmys consider all other comedic actors inferior to Jim Parson's one-note performance year after year

Considering who is nominated repeatedly at the Emmy's, I'd say that's not much recognition. He's consistently good in this. Better than 95% of the comedy actors right now, IMHO.

I never liked Matt Leblanc on Friends, but I think he is great playing himself on Episodes. I didn't discover the show until last year, and caught up to it OnDemand, so for some reason it has gotten buried among the public. I thought it was a funny first episode, and looking forward to the rest of the season.
And a shit-faced Matt Leblanc on the set of 'Pucks' was great!

Yeah, I didn't watch Friends at all, but Matt Leblanc is excellent in Episodes. I really like Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan from their UK shows. Kathleen Perkins is perfect as Carol.
Definitely a good opener, and I like how they keep going with the Morning age gag.

Enjoyed the premiere as well. VERY underrated show.
It's just so funny how everyone hates working on Pucks. For Sean/Beverly it started with optimism, then it didn't take long for them to feel the impact of Hollywoods dumb decisions (ie. casting Leblanc, hockey, "Pucks", etc). And then it's gone downhill from there and the hatred grew to everyone attached to it.
The whole 31 million exchange was funny. But the one thing they didn't mention was syndication money. Doesn't Matt gets decent money from Friends syndication? I would think he gets a decent paycheck from that still... so it's not just 31 mill. he has to spend for the rest of his life if he just wants to sit on his ass. Plus it's not hard to make some money investing when you have 31 mill.

Nothing really LOL funny week 2, but it had a few moments. Surprised that they stayed away from any antics on the Pucks set. It was really more about Sean and Beverly trying to sell their script.
I do kind of like the new studio executive who's now Carol's boss.
at the end when Matt fired his Mexican gardner when he was forced to make cut backs.

I thought the opener was weak and that they were back on track in the 2nd.

The plane is off the table.

I was so looking forward to this season and so far I'm not disappointed. Matt continues to kill it with his narcissistic cluelessness.

"You spent $125,000 on a single bottle of Brandy that belonged to Al Capone?"
"It's a bit of history!"
"Any chance you could part with it."
"I drank it. I was drunk, it was there. As a business decision it's hard to defend".

I thought the 2nd episode was pretty funny, as 'broke' Matt Leblanc is pretty funny. Even though he still has 30 million dollars!
