Togetherness (HBO) - Season 1 Thread - premieres 1/11/15
Brett and Michelle are struggling to rekindle the spark in their relationship, which has puttered out from the stresses of marriage and children. When Brett's friend Alex and Michelle's sister, Tina, move in with them, the foursome engage in a tragically comedic struggle to follow their personal dreams, while still remaining good friends, siblings and spouses to each other. Created by Jay Duplass & Mark Duplass & Steve Zissis, TOGETHERNESS is the TV debut as a writing team of brothers Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass. The new comedy series begins its eight-episode season SUNDAY, JAN. 11 (9:30-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Blending laughter and pathos, the show follows four adults nearing 40, living under the same roof and struggling to keep their relationships and their dreams alive. Shot on location in and around the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, TOGETHERNESS explores deeper issues related to friendship, careers and approaching middle age, celebrating the small, everyday moments of life that feel epic.

Decent first episode. Wasn't loving anything specifically and could tell the whole play by numbers where it was going. But yeah, I'll stick around. Especially for Melanie Lynskey.

Yea...nothing spectacular. I like everyone involved, so I can stick around for 8 episodes.

Thought Episode 2 was much better than the pilot. Lynskey looked hot in the black outfit.
Amanda Peet's tits look as good, if not better, than they did 15 years ago in The Whole Nine Yards.

I wasn't a huge fan of Amanda Peet years ago, but I'm liking her in this. She's aged pretty well too.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying this as well. Amanda Peet is funny and brings some good energy to the show. I like the other characters as well, and I think the writing is pretty solid and humorous compared to most "slice of life" shows like this. Hopefully it keeps up and HBO sticks with it, unlike most of their 30 minute shows that get cancelled.

Michelle doing a little S&M on Brett was great. I was
when she hurt his balls. Melanie Lynskey did look good in that tight dress.
Nice boob flash by Amanda Peet. This was much better than the first episode.

While I enjoyed this third episode, I don't think I'm enjoying the direction they're going with Michelle. Seems a little too soon and too out of left field to take her down that road just yet.. or at all.
Episode 1 it seems she just not attracted to her husband anymore
Episode 2 she's trying to spice it up and being the forceful one
Episode 3 she's developing a crush on a PTA super dad.
Seems like they just don't know what direction they actually want to take her in.

The direction seems consistent to me... she's not feeling fulfilled (sexually) by her marriage. In the first episode they're in a rut (from her perspective)... she has clearly lost interest with the way things have been going. So in episode 2 she tries to shake things up to make it something that *does* interest her. It doesn't work out so well, though, so in episode 3 she sort of flirts with the idea of exploring outside options, just in a "what if" sort of way -- for now.

crushing blow for Steve Zissis as Alex Pappas with A Peete and Gallagher.. ugh, really fun stuff between them at the movie premiere...
I also don't know what they are trying to do Melanie Lynskey as Michelle Pierson, not feelin that storyline

Another good episode.
I like that they cleared the air with Alex falling for Tina. I hope they don't dwell on it. Too predictable and I like them as friends.
Loved Brett recording the Cardinal. Party scene was fun. Loved Michelle's almost goth black leather outfit when she went out alone.

Another winner. I just love the lighthearted slice of life nature of this show. Kick the can is such a random thing to structure an episode around but the whole event was great. They do a good job of not letting the drama get in the way of the fun.
