Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

As there appears to be no previous thread dedicated to the subject, I'm hoping it's safe to start one.

Warner Archive has a new 5 for $45 sale up (as of Jan. 2), and as with most of their recent sales, Blu-rays are included, and since their Blu-ray catalogue is getting a bit bigger each year, it's probably worth keeping track of the deals. Free shipping over $45, incidentally.

Included in the current sale:

THE GREAT RACE
OUT OF THE PAST
THE WIND AND THE LION
PERFORMANCE
KISMET
GREYSTOKE
THE AMERICANIZATION OF EMILY
FEARLESS
DEATHTRAP
BEWARE THE BATMAN, SEASON 1, PART 1
GYPSY
JUMBO
HIT THE DECK

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

This is the cheapest they will hit since they don't have wide distribution.

Excellent! Finally going to get The Great Race, The Wind and the Lion, and Out of the Past. Gotta decide on two more...

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

I'd recommend Greystoke (review here: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Greyst...Blu-ray/68201/). Also highly recommended by DVDTalk http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/60539...end-of-tarzan/

Not a perfect film but the most faithful to the original story although it strays in the last half. Wonderful images & a solid story. The definitive Tarzan film has yet to be made, but this one has a lot of merits.

Not on the OP's list, but both Beware the Batman sets are available (Pt. 1 & 2) as mentioned by another poster. I put a test run of 5 titles in my cart including the Batmans & they rang up at $9 each. Also, free shipping starts at $45 (not over $45) in case there was any confusion.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

You can actually buy more than 5 at a time. Each additional BD over 5 is still $9 apiece.

Thanks. Always appreciate it when sales go like this & the customer doesn't have to try to figure out multiples in order to get the same deal after the minimum has been hit.

I bought Greystoke during their xmas sale and I give a hearty to the comments above. If you like Tarzan, you definitely need to see this movie. It was a favorite of mine when it came out and it still holds up well today.

I actually also bought the Batman discs but haven't checked them out yet. It is definitely the cheapest price you will find on them at this time. I don't think they have been under $15 apiece on Amazon.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

DEATHTRAP is a lot of fun. It's hardly SLEUTH, which it's often compared to, but it's a good rainy night picture.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

I personally feel Greystoke is an improvement over the Burroughs novel; Hudson gave it a gravitas that was (to me) a breath of fresh air. Too bad Disney didn't take the same approach with John Carter...

Right now there's only 2 I want; but when they get enough for the free shipping, since they're factory pressed I would be in.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

It's not quite as good a deal but the current sale is $10 off a $35 order. People that only wanted two BDs might like this sale a little better.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

Not as good as previous sales but 20 Warner Archive Blu rays are $12.49 each currently for Father's Day. Limited to 5 titles per order. Free shipping on orders over $50. Includes Far From The Madding Crowd . It says free shipping over $75 but it gave free shipping with 5 of these titles in basket.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

It's been far too long since Warner Archive threw us a bone, but their new 4/$44 birthday sale includes some nice stuff:

http://www.wbshop.com/category/code/...romo=tout44wac

. . . including several Blu-rays which I don't believe have been included in previous sales:

MURDER MY SWEET
LADYHAWKE
THE HUNGER
SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO
THE SUNSHINE BOYS
DEEP IN MY HEART
FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD
42nd STREET
WOLFEN
THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP
PASSAGE TO MARSEILLE
THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS

Judging by how infrequently they do this, it might be a good time to stock up.

On the DVD front, the initial 4 Golden Harvest titles are also reduced.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up! Bummed Michael Collins isn't part of this, but I'll be picking up at least 4.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

Nice. I splurged on some titles. Just a note that once you hit the four titles, all other titles added after that will also have the discount. So don't think you have to buy in multiples of four for all titles in your order to be discounted.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

It sounds like WB may have offloaded their shop to a third party, but this thread is worth a read if you're doing business with them.

ATTN: WBShop Order fulfiller hacked, Check your CC's

While I'd imagine they've fixed the original issue, it's the way in which they dealt with their customers which should not be forgotten.

Re: Warner Archive Blu-ray sales

I tolerate paying sales tax since I live in Mario Land[N.Y.], but an additional $6.99 for s/h?

Big pass for me.
