I await this flick to get a BD that has many good features w/ a solid commentary by Fincher.
Fincher films are a great product that gives some love to the consumer.

I love the packaging design. I still have held on to the 2 disc Fight club dvd for that reason alone, is it worth a blind buy?

Panic Room didn't release as a regular DVD and SE DVD? I thought Seven always came front loaded w/ the regular DVD coming out at the same time...

Zodiac was loaded at with initial release. I know -- I have that original loaded Zodiac HD-DVD . All those other films are last century.

Fight Club, Benjamin Button, The Social Network, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo were all loaded releases out the door on DVD or BD.
Zodiac was not. Panic Room was not. The Game was not. Se7en was not. Alien 3 was not.

I enjoyed Gone Girl, but honestly it's not the kind of movie that has a lot of replay value. Maybe 1 or 2 more viewings (1 watching with commentary). I will consider getting this if it's loaded with extra content. I like Fincher's commentaries and most of his movies have pretty extensive behind the scenes material.
I know most of this forum is so overloaded with backlog that they simply don't have the time to watch bonus material, but if you're a fan of Fincher's work as a filmmaker, you really should make the effort to watch it and listen to his commentary tracks.
Just to buy this set and throw it into your closet or shelf unwatched for months/years would be shameful.

Fight Club also came out as a bare-bones VHS several weeks before the loaded DVD edition.

It's hard to tell. I would lean towards "no" because, while very good, it didn't blow me away like some of his other movies. I would rank it in the middle of his filmography.

That wasn't the initial release. Zodiac was famously initially issued on DVD in its theatrical version and sporting an advertisement for the director's cut edition on the theatrical disc.
Fight Club also came out as a bare-bones VHS several weeks before the loaded DVD edition.

Same goes for some short term DVD release.

And the Fight Club VHS had an ad for the DVD on it too.
This is precisely what people are expecting with this title: that a more-loaded release will follow shortly afterwards. I don't think it'll happen, relatively-few titles have been double-dipped in the Blu-ray era, but they're quite common in Fincher's filmography.
In fact, the only titles that could be said to have reasonably-definitive releases on Day 1 in Fincher's filmography would be Benjamin Button, The Social Network and Dragon Tattoo.

His last three movies... now, this one was a big enough hit that it's not outside the realm of possibility that a feature packed release could come down the road...but I wouldn't count on it. It has a commentary track...I wouldn't be surprised if Fincher thinks that's enough, and doesn't think any behind-the-scenes material is needed.

This one seems to have a much larger fanbase than Dragon Tattoo and has a bit more of a "word of mouth" appeal that comes with being a pristine adaptation to a hugely popular trashy novel, curious to see how the pricing goes. (Dragon Tattoo was a popular novel in the US but nowhere near Gone Girl's level of popularity).

I never really heard of Gone Girl as a book, I thought Dragon Tattoo was a more popular novel but maybe that's just me.
