i've been very happy with this player, but it does do one thing that's a bit annoying. anytime there is a really quick cut, the picture jumps a bit. almost like when you used to adjust the vertical hold on an old tv. it seems to happen when there is a quick, bright cut, that goes back to a regular scene. anyone else having this problem? my ROM version is 2.400 i noticed it alot tonight while watching the new interviews on romper stomper.

I never really noticed this on mine, I have issues with the small pause I get at layer changes. Its like slow motion for a second. You ould call Toshiba and try running a cleaner on it to start. If it keeps getting worse and it is under warranty send it back to Toshiba directly. I had to get mine worked on and I took it to a local place and it took almost three months because they are idiots. Toshiba ended up giving me a new 5109 since I waited so long and just took my 3109 back. My problem was more serious though. My motherboard went out.

You don't happen to own an RCA TV do you?
I remember there being discussions many months ago that some TVs didn't work well with DVDs. They couldn't handle the signal properly, and this generally showed up when there was a particularly bright flash on the screen.
If I remember correctly, this was a problem with some RCA TV models.
A good test would be to connect your player to another TV and see if you can duplicate the problem.

I have never noticed this. are you sure it is not the tv as blade suggests? it does not seem like it is a 3109 problem to me.

i own a 27in goldstar that's about 4 years old, so i guess it's possible. i hadn't even considered that it'd be a problem with the tv, but now that you mention it, that's probably the problem. as i mentioned it looks like a vertical hold swipe. it only happens occasionally so it's not that big of a deal. thanks for the inoput. i think i need to upgrade to a widescreen.
