The Flash (S1E09) -- Mid-Season Finale -- "The Man in the Yellow Suit" -- 12/9/14

THE FLASH

"The Man in the Yellow Suit" - (8:00-9:01:45 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

BARRY COMES FACE-TO-FACE WITH THE MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT/AMANDA PAYS RETURNS TO THE FLASH - Barry (Grant Gustin) finds himself face-to-face with his nemesis, the man in the yellow suit, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, who killed his mother. Barry is frustrated when the Reverse Flash escapes, but Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) come up with a plan to trap him. All they need is bait, so they turn to Dr. Tina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) from Mercury Labs to help. Meanwhile, it's Christmas at The West household and Iris (Candice Patton) is in full holiday cheer. Eddie (Rick Cosnett) gives her a surprising gift but also leaves her with a question that could change her life. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) joins the search for the man in yellow and ends up in the crossfire. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) finds Ronnie (Robbie Amell). Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Aaron Helbing (#109). Original airdate 12/9/2014.

The Reverse Flash proved how utterly ineffective the regular police are against him. I am amazed we got him this early in the show's history, considering he's the Flash's main arch-enemy. I guess the CW was nervous this show would need extra juice this early. Its massive popularity took them by surprise.

Firestorm's VFX looked pretty good when he flew off. I was a little disappointed they didn't mention the professor.

Great episode. I'm not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but I knew who Reverse Flash was for a while. However, the why I didn't and still don't get. It probably has to do with
Spoiler:
his apparent time travel ability.

My DVR cut off the very end of it. I saw Dr. Wells walk into his hidden room
Spoiler:
and pull out the Reverse-Flash's ring,
then my DVR stopped. Did anything happen after that?

Holy hell that was a great episode. Had a lot of good development with Barry, and Reverse Flash is an amazing villain. He's the best kind. He's powerful and scary, and you really wonder if the hero can overcome the villain.

Especially geeked out seeing the ring at the end of the episode. This episode answered some questions but it left you with so many more and thats the best sign of a good cliffhanger.

I was thinking the same thing while watching the Arrow/Flash crossover. it was probably conceived as using Arrow to bolster The Flash. But as it turns out, it's the only Arrow episode I've watched this season (In the past, I've recorded Arrow and watched it over the summer). In other words, The Flash bolstered Arrow.

So many geek-out moments in this episode. Firestorm taking off had me jump onto my feet off the couch! Just fantastic seeing that! And the fights between Flash and Reverse-Flash was amazingly epic! I think I stopped breathing a few times during the episode!

Oh, and I'm glad Barry finally revealed his feelings for Iris. About damn time! Now we finally have a proper love triangle.

Great episode. Another person from Flash 1990!

This show is being done well. Only issue is some power stuff yet most shows screw that up to some degree.

Why do Reverse Flash's eyes glow red? As to RF's identity, how could Wells have gotten his suit? I'm pretty sure Wells isn't RF, unless he's supposed to be a spectacular actor, but he does seem to know who RF is or might be. One thing that doesn't strike true about Wells is how well he portrays a paralyzed person. No way an ordinary person keeps up that charade while getting severely beaten. They're going to move their legs involuntarily and reveal the deception.

i think RV flash is Dr. Wells, since he got the reverse flash ring. RV flash can run so fast that he can time travel. That is why RV and Wells could be in the same room at the same time.

What does the chest thingy the Wells put on RV chest? It looks like the Iron Man Arc or something.

That was the tachyon device they borrowed from Dr. McGee and used as bait. RV spirited it away and Wells was using it, I assume, to charge up the suit in some fashion.

I'm still wondering why Reverse Flash didn't touch Eddie...maybe there's more to this than what was revealed.

Then why both beat Barry in this episode and save him in past episodes? And why beat himself, that was a pretty vicious beating?

He did touch him, he pushed him, but he didn't do any real harm. Maybe Wells is really Eobard Thawne, RV's real comic's identity, is from the future, again like the comic version, and Eddie is his ancestor. Killing or hurting Eddie would then be a no no in RV's eyes.

Re: The Flash (S1E09) -- Mid-Season Finale -- "The Man in the Yellow Suit" -- 12/9/14

Early on in the series I though Wells was the Reverse Flash for sure.

Then I thought, oh this is a swerve, Eddie is the Reverse Flash.

Then last night I was like, wait so Wells is the Reverse Flash?

Then as I'm lying in bed I said to my wife Eddie is the Reverse Flash's father. Or grandfather, I don't know how far in the future RF comes from.

Since Cisco revealed that there were two speedsters present when Barry's mom was killed, I'm speculating that future Flash & RF traveled through time to Barry's childhood. Something happened and Barry disappeared (as per Wells' future newspaper headline) and RF is trapped in the past. He sets up a life as Harrison Wells and sets things in motion to get back to the future. The tachyon device is going to help him time travel.

He actually has the device in his lab that will eventually do just that; the treadmill. Actually, with a little tweaking it will eventually become the Cosmic treadmill. Flash actually first met Thawne when he traveled to the 25th century using the treadmill. At least that's how I remember it.

This has quickly become my favorite show. They're doing a fantastic job establishing the Flash universe.

Needless to say, but that was the best Flash show yet.

The fight, Rev Flash, Firestorm, the Ring...some questions answered, but cliffhanger left so many unanswered.

This Flash should also be the movie Flash, I know we have all said that many times, but had to say it again.

DC has a bad record when it comes making their comic book movie compare to Marvel. The only good DC movie in the past was batman begins.

It will be interesting how they reveal the source of Reverse Flash's speed. He's not quite like Barry.

I found out yesterday that Captain Cold is Geoff Johns' favorite villain.
