TCM Shop

They currently have the best price on Forbidden Hollywood 8: $38.39

Code CYBER20 20% off + free ship. I had to call to get the free ship, but it wasn't a problem. About $1 more then the DD order that never shipped.

Re: TCM Shop

I deleted a previous order after realizing TCM's best sale last year was 20% off + free shipping, but their Dark Crimes II set apparently falls under the sale's "some exclusions apply" asterix. I get the free shipping but no 20% off. Grrrr.

Re: TCM Shop

I am jinxed. My order got lost, & while they've agreed to send a new one, I keep getting weird emails from TCM, including one that looks perfectly normal, EXCEPT that instead of a link to TCM, it links to the Grateful Dead's web site! (I do NOT suggest clicking on the link, there's got to be a virus involved here.)

Re: TCM Shop

They also sent me 3 brief emails that I was told didn't follow they're normal format & contradicted each other. They did come from the 1st rep I spoke with.

Re: TCM Shop

I wonder if the Dead & TCM use the same fulfillment company?

Re: TCM Shop

I don't know but from a couple of issues I've had with orders I consider their CS to be some of the worst on the planet.

Re: TCM Shop

I completely lost interest in any of TCM's sales when I tried to order the Karloff set a few months ago, and learned the Free Shipping doesn't include Hawaii. Not only that but the shipping rate they quoted was nearly as much as I'd have spent on the set.

TCM can suck it.

On thr other hand, while I've only had to talk with them twice, the individual I spoke with was among the absolute best customer service individuals I've ever had the pleasure of talking to. Polite, helpful and knowledgable to a fault. Overall they may well be lesser, but there are definite pockets of greatness in their CS teams.

Re: TCM Shop

Both of the people I dealt with were very nice.

The first person, who I s/w 2 times, did not solve the problem; though he thought he had.

It APPEARS that the second person did; I now have a new tracking # for the 2nd shipment, that UPS acknowledges, & does not have a link to the Grateful Dead's website on the email!

Well I got my replacement in of my A Christmas Story SB that was missing. WTF, they send a steelbook in a bag mailer with no padding. Luckily no dents in it but still, that's crazy!

The persons I dealt with were nice but refused to make any exceptions to what I consider to be *very* limited policies.

1. Refused to replace a defective MOD title which was outside the 30 day return window. It took involving Universal (who own the title but not the release which was a TCM "exclusive") to get resolution. Oddly enough, the replacement copy was *pressed*!

2. Claimed a order which had not been shipped and was not in the shipping phase could *not* be cancelled so I could order it again with a better coupon code. Then would not apply the better code to the order claiming that, also, couldn't be done.

Those instances are admitedly somewhat minor but I've not had trouble with any other vendor with identical issues/requests. That they claimed they could not cancel a order that was not in the shipping phase was the kicker.

I only ordered those times because the orders were for exclusive titles finally being offered at more "reasonable" prices. Each order was a title exclusive to TCM, otherwise I'd have taken my business elsewhere from the start. Even though there are a few more TCM exclusive titles I'd like to own I'm not likely to order from them again because of their policies and inability to make simple changes and honor simple, and IMHO reasonable, requests.

Assuming I eventually get FH #8, at least they're not as bad as DD!

Re: TCM Shop

Forbidden Hollywood 8 arrived today, factory pressed (yay!)

Something I just realized, with the inclusion of Strangers May Kiss, The only Norma Shearer talky not on official DVD release is Trial Of Mary Dugan. Every other talky she's done has now either been released on a pressed or MOD dvd. (Well Stolen Jools is only on about 20 public domain dvd's...... lol!)

The films could be heading to Mill Creek for re release.

The Ford set is completely gone from the website. The Karloff set says sold out and we will send you an e-mail when available again.
