Buy doesn't make any sense. As an experiment, a friend and I ordered Edward Scissorhands and Evil Dead 2. My friend placed the order one week after me. He was unable to get Evil Dead 2 at the preorder price but he was able to preorder Edward Scissorhands. I was able to preorder both titles.

A week later, I received Edward Scissorhands and he didn't. And he received Evil Dead 2, but not Edward Scissorhands.

I talk to Buy this morning and they tell me that Evil Dead 2 (and another long-awaited order, North by Northwest) is on backorder for 2-4 weeks. I told the customer service guy about my experiment. Of course, he had no explanation.

It is worth noting, however, that my friend was a new customer and that I was not. This may be one reason why he was placed on priority over me (Amazon anyone?) with a much coveted title like Evil Dead 2.

Either that or Buy is sending titles to the same area from different warehouses. Anyway, it will probably be October before I get the DVDs. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif Still, I find it mystifying that preorders would be placed on such a strange priority.

I guess the only way to solve this problem is to preorder DVDs at least 3 weeks in advance to ensure that they will arrive in time.

That may not work either. I had both MP#7 and Lathe of Heaven on order for atleast a month. Neither of them have shown up yet, street date was 29 Aug http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif

I pre-ordered Evil Dead 2 Tin in April. It is still "on order"....I guess I ordered it too early for Buy.com....This sucks!!! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif

You would think that Buy could use a calculator or, hell, even an abacus and figure out precisely how many people preordered particular titles!
