Adult Swim's Too Many Cooks (and various other "infomercials")

Note to self: set a reminder to start DVR'ing Adult Swim every day at 4am.

<iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/RzdRQCnDBlw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This is just one of many "infomercials" that Adult Swim likes to put up at 4am when nobody is watching. Adult Swim has been airing this particular clip now for the past two weeks, every night at 4am.

There isn't a reputation based points system on here, so source isn't important.

I thought the video was great.

I got tired of it after 3 minutes and stopped the video.

Yeah it's awesome, love how they played on more than one 80's sitcom. It's from the same people who did the alternate intros to Alf and Duck Tales.

I really liked that. So twisted. I don't know if I was entertained but I do think it's art and funny, creative art at that. Does that make sense?

I loved it as well. The other "episodes" of Infomercials are good as well, but Too Many Cooks is really just top notch. It's definitely a great satire and commentary on television. Counts as art in my book.

Nah, it's okay. It was amusing enough but grew tiresome rather quickly.

Adult Swim's original programming can be very challenging.

I agree, it just goes on too long and it's not as funny as it thinks it is.

I had a bigger laugh at The Salad Mixxxer.

The concept has been mined for parody before. From MadTV in the mid-2000s:

I don't even think it's trying to funny at some point, just weird and crazy.

They knew it was airing at 4 am, so they went for trippy above all else.

I liked it when the serial killer got involved, and then lost interest when it went sci-fi. And then enjoyed the rest when it was a ton of TV sitcom stereotypes crashing into one.

In case anyone didn't notice, the killer is in the "show" pretty much from the start. You can see him standing behind people and creeping around throughout the early moments (prior to the cartoon and him going on the killing spree).

Something else was on last night called Off the Air that was pretty trippy.

Btw Cooks is on at 4:15 not 4am.
In Search of Miracle Man is at 4.

Two seperate shows and need to be recorded daily over Directv as it won't let me set a series.

They're both one-offs I thought?

Might be why it won't record as series but it is on every night next week at 4am

Off the Air is an ongoing series that features short experimental films.

I wasn't fond of Too Many Cooks but The Salad Mixxxer was hilarious.

Someone posted this on my facebook yesterday. Too Many Cooks is alarmingly similar, right down to the ending. Surprised more people aren't talking about this.
