Amazon gift card for a child ... is this possible?

My 10-year old niece lives on the other side of the country and for her birthday I had been sending her a card and gift certificate for Toys R Us. My brother suggests she's outgrown that and would prefer getting something at Amazon. But is it even possible to send an Amazon gift card to a child? Or would I have to send it to her parents and have use it for her?

I'm pretty sure you can send a physical card, so that should work.

But if the card I send her is in her name, would Amazon need someone with that name to have an account (and a credit card)?

Pretty sure it's just a code they type in to an account, so someone would need an Amazon account right?

Amazon's gift certificates are always numerical codes that can be redeemed on any account. This is true for physical gift cards bought at stores or email codes purchased directly on Amazon.

Aha, thank you. So it sounds like I can get a cute little gift certificate with her name on it, and include it with the card. And either of her parents should be able to use it to get anything she wants.
