Zed reminds me of the actress in orphan black. The priest reminds me of Cas from supernatural.
I'm not sure why the lady was killing people. Her abusive husband sure but why she kill the other people?
The episode was mostly throw away except for the introduction of the new woman. She has attitude and sex appeal and will bring in that young male demographic the higher ups are looking for. Her character is extremely different from the first lady. Makes me wonder how the storyline changed to fit her.

As for the case of the week, it didn't make a lot of sense. It seems like the wife was summoning the Coblynau to kill her husband, but at first they couldn't leave the mine, so maybe the other deaths were sort of collateral damage. It's also possible she never had 100% control of the spirits.

What I got from the episode is that she hadn't used her magic since leaving her homeland but something was using her to get out of the mine. Constantine said something about something evil using her. I admit it was a bit confusing. Still enjoy the show and will stick with it.

I didn't completely understand either. I think you are right that the other deaths were collateral damage.
I think they made a mistake of implying she was abused instead of showing it. At the end I wasn't sure if the viewer was meant to feel sorry for her or glad she got dragged to hell.

I like this show.
Some of the line deliveries make me roll my eyes. But I think it's because I'm so spoiled with absurd contrivances being so good and cinematic right now (see: Agents of Shield, American Horror Story). Never watched Supernatural. To me, Constantine is in line with goofy-and-straight-faced hour-long TV shows like Chuck or Firefly. Things don't feel so grounded and super serious.

Good thing this was the second episode ... Had it been the first, it would have been my last. That was terrible on so many fronts. As it is, the pilot was enough to bring me back next week.

I'm still on the fence. I actually thought the new girl was an amazingly bad actress. And I was weirded out that she had to stand so close to him whenever talking. Personal space lady, you just met.

I am surprised at all the negative reaction to this episode, though I guess its feeling of episodic procedural and the one-and-done nature of the villain made it seem disposable.
I love how Constantine seems to have a never-ending supply of fresh trenchcoats. I feel better about this series after seeing this episode. The VFX weren't terrible and they are sticking pretty closely to Constantine's classic trademarks. I guess we'll see a lot of implied smoking on this series.

The villains motives didnt really make sense. I never felt invested in what was going on and it was a chore to get through.

Same here. The getting up in his face all the time was really annoying. I enjoyed the first episode, but this one not so much. While I have no knowledge of the comics, I wish that they had stuck with the original female lead as she felt a better fit. And while I like Harold Perrineau, I am not really into his character on this show. It feels like another miscasting.

I liked this episode more than the pilot... at least for me the show is going in the right direction, even tho the comparison to Supernatural becomes more and more evident.

I liked this girl much better than the one from the first episode.
I think the point was that the miner souls where being used by the lady to create accidents to foreman in the mines because as was said by constantine these spirits protect their fellow miners (a la guardian angels), issue was that the mine had more power (evil) that was controlling those same spirits to do bad. So the lady used the normally benevolent spirits for bad because the mine was bad and it was above her magic powers. She opened the door and the evil door to hell did the rest.

I actually liked this more than the 1st episode.
Liked Zed more than Liv. Thought she was more mature, had more chemistry with John and overall appeared to be more of an equal to him. The Producers probably wanted a more mature character to pair with John than the typical spunky sidekick.
I'm sure Matt Ryan loved filming this episode, especially having to sit in a car that flooded full of mud.
Some cool effects and the miner ghosts were kind of cool. Definitely a more procedural monster of the week episode like Supernatural's early days.

I was iffy about this show after the pilot, and this episode didn't do much to win me over. I like the time slot; it could be a great match with Grimm. I'll probably give it a couple more episodes before making a final decision.

I liked the episode and I like Zed better than the girl in the pilot. She meshes better with Constantine and brings a darker edge. The first girl seemed like she would need someone to help her with stuff all the time.
