Boy, this episode was a mixed bag. Hated that stupid intro with"Cat" but cool to see the beginings of the "Venom" but ya know what: I fuckin loved Bruce in this episode! Can't believe the show has made me do a 180 on him. Bravo Gotham.

Again, Jada. Damn. She's killing it.

I seem to be digging this show more than most. I really like it. Not a comic reader at all so maybe that is part of it. And I hated the idea of this show.

Re: Gotham (S1E05) -- "Viper" -- 10/20/14

I liked this episode. The introduction of venom was cool but without spiderman it was a little bitter sweet. There might be a small problem of repeating a Arrow storyline if they continue with the venom or viper.

The basic viper plot was pretty weak though. The Bruce plot was more interesting with him being kid detective and trying to romance that black lady who was way to old for him. This is probably the start of playboy bruce.

No real point for the kitten girl scene. Also seems unlikely she would not have noticed Gordon. Almost forgot about the penguin and fish scenes which also seemed pointless. I think they could have had the heist part and weapon scene and not lost anything.

So the show has some high ups and high lows for me.

Man, I think the audience would be SHOCKED if Spider-man showed up!

Now Bane on the other hand...

REALLY liked seeing Alfred buy into Bruce's obsession at the end of the episode. Guess it had to begin somewhere.

Why the hell did Penguin tell Maroni is real name and who he used to work for? That was an exceeding stupid thing to do.

I'm really enjoying it. Do the comic book nerds hate it?

Re: Gotham (S1E05) -- "Viper" -- 10/20/14

Thought this was a really cool episode.

when the drug wore off on that guy who stole the ATM and then he was crushed to death confronting Jim and Bullock. His bones breaking apart was pretty graphic and didn't look cheap.

I haven't really commented on Jada as Fish Mooney, but I'm liking the character. I think she sells her evil qualities really well. With the large cluster of Gotham villains, I think Fish Mooney is a good stable villain to have in between along with Penguin.

No Barbara this week.

One thing I like about Bruce as mentioned before is that he's not some whiny brat. At least as mentioned before he's now sharpening his research and detective. At least Alfred is now aboard with it.

Morena Baccarin from Homeland and Firefly is joining the cast. She's recurring now, but will become a regular in season 2.

Solid if somewhat flawed ep. Like everyone else I enjoyed seeing Bruce develop his detective skills. The only problem I had was that I had trouble identifying some of the characters. The girl who got with Falcone at the end was the same one being trained by Mooney, correct?

Also, was the doctor who showed up at the GCPD Simon Crane or Edward Nygma? I've seen Nygma on this show before and don't think it looked like him, so I am thinking Crane.

Bullock yelling "What's Altruism?!" at the old guy might be the funniest thing I've seen on TV this year.

The one explaining what Viper does and talking about how it would require a sophisticated lab? That was Nygma.

I thought that scene looked terrible, with really bad effects.

I dug the idea of them seeing an early form of venom, and the explanation of how the viper drug worked. And the Penguin story is still what's carrying the show for me.

So far the show is just ok to me; it's moving along fine, but nothing particularly awesome that stands out for the show.

In Homeland. She was also nude in a movie called Death in Love or something like that.
