Make a Bold Statement About Music
Much like the existing Movie Talk thread, this thread is a challenge to make a bold statement about music, particularly a personal opinion that goes against popular opinion.
For example: The best Beatle was Ringo
Some opinion like that. (Note that it's just an example, not even remotely something I believe.)

The pop music that Genesis and Peter Gabriel were making in the 80s was hugely superior to the boring, hookless, pretentious, hippie prog rock they were known for in the 70s.

Nirvana was way overrated, they cashed in on a time when a new music genre was needed. I think how short lived grunge was shows that most people want to listen to music to enjoy themselves not about how depressing life can be.

Nirvana sucks
And I think that if Kurt Cobain hadn't killed himself, Nirvana would not even be all that well regarded today. His tragic death allows people to impose a "tortured genius" type of view to their body of work, even though their music itself is rather derivative and quite frankly doesn't stand the test of time.

When it comes to Clash albums though, my personal favorite is Give ’Em Enough Rope.
Disagree with that one.

If Randy Rhodes wouldn't have died people would not think so highly of Blizzard of Oz & Diary of a Madman.

I agree, Sandinista has a lot of filler. Whittled down to 2 albums instead of 3 it would give London Calling a run for its money.
When it comes to Clash albums though, my personal favorite is Give ’Em Enough Rope.

A Flock of Seagulls' first album is a stone classic and one of the best albums of the early eighties.
Blink 182 was inarguably a fabulous band in their heyday.
Chic is easily one of the greatest bands of all time.
The best Pink Floyd album is their debut.
ABBA is one of the most mature and wisest bands to ever become international pop stars and their bassist Rutgar Gunnarsson is one of the most underrated bassists of all time.
Negative:
The Foo Fighters have produced exactly one good song: "Everlong" and their long career is completely incomprehensible to me.
On a related note, "Nevermind" is the most overrated album of the ninties and Nirvana was, at best, the fourth best band out of Seattle in their heyday. Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Mudhoney were all better. Hell, I'd say L7's "Bricks are Heavy" is a better album than "Nevermind".
The Doors sucked and the best thing Ray Manzarek ever did was work with X.
Golden age punk was far more irritatingly self-obsessed and pretentious than the prog rock scene it despised so much.
LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy is an arrogant asshole who isn't half as clever as he thinks he is.
