Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

Looking around at complete tv series, I'm surprised how many are under $100.

True Blood and Sopranos complete series seem to be the only ones over $200. TNG complete series whenever that's out likely will be over $200.

As for me... $30 for the Peter Pan blu-ray set was the most expensive BD set I bought.

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

I just bought the complete Dick Van Dyke Show for 30something from an Amazon seller. Tops were the Star Trek OS for $58 on a lightning deal and the Star Trek Stardate collection for $51 from an Amazon seller.

Bond 50 for $99.99. Best deal was Twilight Zone: The Complete Series for $64.

Crap, I forgot I bought Bond 50 ($99). I also got the Hitchcock and Universal Monsters collections from the UK.

My son bought me Bond 50, Band Of Brothers when it first came out was pretty pricey, Star Trek TOS were also in the same range.

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

I currently have THE SOPRANOS set ordered for $195.99 from Amazon. I don't know if that's the MOST expensive set I've ever bought, but it's the most expensive this year. I spent over $90 a few months back for the TWIN PEAKS series.

I consider both to be worth every single penny (my #1 and #2 favorite TV shows of all time - TWIN PEAKS being in the top spot).

If there's ever a Blu-ray series set of my #3 favorite show - SEINFELD - I'll dish out that kind of money again.

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

I bought the Mel Brooks set fairly early on, I think it was $70ish with the nice case & booklet.

Best deal for box set was actually for dvds. Got the entire Incredible Hulk tv series for $20.

It would be hard for me to spend $100 or more on any blu-ray set except maybe something crazy like Batman: Animated Series if it were to hit blu-ray (not likely). I can drop $20-$30 for a single title no problem, but I have a mental barrier when it reaches $75 or more even if multiple movies are involved. (But yet, I did a $75 order a week ago for 6 titles from Amazon.uk, don't ask me to explain).

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

Probably Entourage The Complete Series. But I got that for Christmas, so I'm not sure if that counts I think runner up would be Deadwood Complete Series, which I think was around $60.

I think the best deal I came across was The Unit Complete Series on DVD for $9.99 when Best Buy had it as a price mistake and just recently the Fox Connect deal which got me RoboCop Trilogy, The Hannibal Lecter Collection, The Mel Brooks Collection, and The Rocky Collection for $18.

The Machete German import steel book action figure set:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

This was probably $50 or $60 at the time and it was through group buy, which lessened the price a bit even after it was lost for like a week via UPS. In the end it was worth it since the set arrived in great condition and the figure is awesome.

I'm sure I've spent more on boxed sets of things but that Machete edition is the most expensive BD I have purchased so far.

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

Recently, the 15-disc Halloween collection cost me $79.

Before that, the 31-disc Harry Potter collection cost me $72.

I think it might actually have been the recent Halloween 15 Disc set for $85.

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

In terms of actual money spent, the upcoming Batman TV series box set at $156 will be the most expensive blu-ray set I've ever bought. That will be broken soon after by the Breaking Bad Complete series Steelbook set I have on order. The most expensive dvd set I've bought was the Limited Edition version of the Dark Shadows set that cost me about $400. Most of the time, I wait for big sets to drop in price.

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

IIRC, I paid $175 for the complete Battlestar Galactica Bd set (with the cylon figure and goofy telescoping box). Since at that point I hadn't seen the last half of the last season yet, the price was more than worth it.
After seeing it though, I had some regrets.

I guess the Batman series set will be close to that ($160 via WB shop...unless some other better deal presents itself closer to release)

Re: Most expensive blu-ray set you have bought?

I'd have gotten the Star Wars Saga set if not for the lame kid Anakin cover and the added "Noo!" in ROTJ. Hopefully, there'll be a nicer SW set next year.

I've been tempted to bite on Beauty and the Beast for $80. I just kept putting it off, I didn't think it'd go higher than $35.

Believe those are the 2 most expensive BD purchases I've made.

The Batman set will be my most expensive purchase as well. The current holder of that title is Twin Peaks.

I haven't purchased it yet, but it will likely be the Batman Series set.

I think it was the Battlestar Galactica complete series set, though I don't remember the exact amount I paid for it. Probably a bit over $100.
