South Park (S18E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Go Fund Yourself" -- 9/24/14

After Cartman and the boys name their new company, The Washington Redskins, they just sit back and watch the funding roll in. The head coach of the Washington Redskins football team demands that they change the name but Cartman digs in his heels. The Washington Redskins may never mean the same thing ever again.
Episode 1 of 10.

I eventually stopped watching the simpsons around season 20. Might be time to give this one up, too.

They certainly have plenty of material to pull from this season. I'll be watching.

The first time I heard of "the fappening" I was thinking it would make a good episode.

Could be good if they put in all the NFL scandals going on in the news recently.

The Goodell-bot

The logo change

Jerry Jones

I like how the clip from the OP uses RGIII but in the show, they changed him to Kirk Cousins.

Other than that, the satire fell flat. Not a good start to the season.

Great start to the season. They nailed everything.

Changing RGIII to Kirk Cousins because Griffin got hurt was hilarious.

I lost it when the Redskins were invading Kickstarter and the woman walks into the elevator.

I find it odd that some sites/people think this was an all-out assault on the Redskins as a team. If anything, it was an assault on the whole argument and everyone in it, on all sides. I'm not sure they took a real position on it. It was interesting that they probably mentioned the team name and showed the logo over 100 times in a 20 minute program (w/o commercials) which says something in and of itself.

BTW - media still losing the argument that the name is offensive:

Talk about the most irrelevant statistic ever. Good job showing you understand absolutely nothing of the issue, but that is not new....

If that was an all-out assault, then Trey and Matt should hang it up. I'm not really sure what the point of the episode was.

Good job not understanding what it means to have someone disagree with you. But then again, that is completely unsurprising.

Take the last word, getting too old to deal with ignorant trolls on internet forums.

I can't say for sure either. It may be that either that the argument is stupid because they feel the name is offensive or that the entire argument itself is stupid regardless of whether or not it is offensive. Maybe also simply the reality that if the USPTO ultimately wins, the logo will be everywhere and anywhere because, let's face it, people care way way way more about $$$ than whether or not they are offended by something.

Yep - great take on Snyder as a troll, Goodell-bot/owners, the name and how context can change everything, and Kickstarter.

Awesome that they subbed in Kirk for RGIII.

I just rewatched. They were taking jabs at many things.

1. They were making fun of the outrage over the name. At first, they took the Redskin name and Dan Snyder was offended by the name. The boys didn't care because they were making boatloads of money off the name. Then after the hilarious scene where the Cowboys kill Dan Snyder the white people decided to be offended. Then once the white people started to be offended by the name a "Redskin" has always been offended by it became toxic to have that name.

2. They ripped into the idea that Snyder is figuratively telling everyone "fuck you" and they're still making more and more money.

3. They ripped into Kickstarter for basically hosting get rich quick schemes that can be borderline scams.

The "press conferences" were a rip on Apple, weren't they?

Loved that part. "When did that happen?" "Last night." Flash outrage mob.

My only gripe: Mark Murphy is not the owner of the Green Bay Packers. But he did play his entire NFL career for - you guessed it, the Washington Redskins.

Are you talking about when they showed all of the owners in the league office? I looked and didn't see Green Bay or Buffalo (since there's no "official" owner until sometime in October).
