Help with new TV purchase

Need your help DVDTalkers! I'm in the market for a new TV. I currently have a DLP 50" Sony KDS-50A2000 that I've had for around 10 years. The bulb needs to be replaced so I figured it's a good time to get a new TV. Or more aptly stated, it's easier to tell the wife we need a new one.... "See honey, the TV doesn't work, we need a new one." (Will still replace the bulb though).

Criteria:
  • Budget = $1,500 but can be persuaded to go a few hundred higher.
  • I have to get it at Best Buy
  • Primary use = 90% gaming, 10% movie/tv
  • Location = in the basement, no windows
  • Viewing angle = no extreme side viewing; probably most of the prime seating spots are slightly to the left/right of center
  • Features = 1080p (duh!), 3+ HDMI ports would be nice, don't care for 3D but will take it if it's the better TV
  • Size = 55+

I always told myself I wanted the next TV to be a plasma, but that format is pretty much dead now, right? So I guess that leaves LED. I don't think the new 4k are in my budget. And, since it's primary use will be gaming, I need one with low input lag.

Right now, I'm leaning towards this, Sony 60" LED #KDL60W850B

However, here is Sony's 4k Ultra, Sony 55" 4K Ultra #XBR55X850B. It's $500 out of my initial budget but if 4K is really worth it and good for gaming, then I'd go for it.

Or, are there others I should look at?

Thanks!

Re: Help with new TV purchase

90% console gaming? You probably don't need to go 4k right now then.
