I use my 160 gb ipod daily. Bummer but figured it was going to happen.

I have one plugged into my car and I control it with the stereo. Never see it but use it all the time. Bummer.

Same here. Not surprising, though.

I have a 120 gb iPod. I love this thing especially on long car drives and it's hooked up to my AUX cable.

Not surprising, Apple's core market is trendy young people.

Ditto. I wouldn't mind this decision so much if the iPod touch came with the same size options.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I have a 160gb for car trips. I have a short commute so no real need to keep it in the car at all times.

It's a shame since iPhones and iTouchs can't even come close to the storage capacity.

Have the 80GB classic in the car. Hope it never breaks!

My wife has one sitting around somewhere. My first iPod was the first generation Shuffle.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I have a 160gb in my car which I upgraded from an 80gb, so I usually take the 80gb when I go on trips. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple phases out the iPod Touch soon as well, especially with the higher end iPhones now with 128gb.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I have a 160GB classic I still use regularly. Best electronic device I've ever owned. I get more use out of that than anything else I've bought in the past decade.

I need to find a way to clean the back, though. It has years of funk and crust from sitting in a cheap case for the past 6 years.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I love my iPod classic. I use it every day. I never have used my iPhone for music nor do I want to. I may try to get another one new just to hold onto in case my current one dies.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

There is something comforting about having all my music available on one device. I guess sooner or later they'll offer an iPhone with that kind of capacity.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I have an 80gb iPod classic I use now only for when I take walks.

I still use a dedicated player - picked up a FiiO X3 for the audiophile sound quality. Use it on my commute to/from work and also when at home but not in my audio room.

I guess most people use their phones now for music - which is convenient, but I find the audio quality lacking - plus leaves you with less battery usage for the phone.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

Love my 120GB classic. I use it every single day walking to work and back. And when I'm running. Has tons of demo and obscure music on there that no streaming site will have.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

Yea, the whole streaming subscription thing is fine for people who don't want the best sound quality and enjoy listening to more mainstream stuff.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

Best device ever. I love having my portable jukebox with me wherever I go!
Maybe I'll purchase another one some time, just in case my one breaks down on me.

Or who enjoy paying for overages on their data plans.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I got my first iPod for Christmas 2003 and used one (my first one lasted 2.5 years, my second is still going), but I've hardly touched it since getting my iPhone in 2011.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

streaming is dumb. I'll be looking to pick up a spare 160 gb Classic... hopefully I can get another 4-5 years out of my current one.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I still use mine every day. I just went to the Apple store on Friday and got a new 30-pin cord since my old one was getting frayed (Apple exchanged it at no cost to me!). My car is old enough that I have a third-party dock plugged into my cigarette lighter that broadcasts to an unused FM frequency.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I need to go get the battery replaced in my Classic. IT hasn't been doing a very good job of holding a charge lately.

Re: iPod Classic R.I.P.

I've had my 60GB Video in the car for I don't know how long. I only bring it in the house to charge and download new podcasts. While I have grown more accepting of streaming, no streaming device will replace it for various reasons.
And yes, the back of it is a little cruddy.
I've been thinking about getting a new/bigger one.
