As Above, So Below
Couldn't find a thread on this, did no one check this out at all?
I thought the premise was interesting, and things were going fine for me until the 3rd act, and the ending was just pretty much a major disappointment.

Agree with you about the ending. But, I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't excepting much, and it had some creepy moments. I thought, it was well worth watching in the theater.

The trailer seemed to give everything away (and I'm not a fan of found footage flicks) which is why I skipped it.

I'm planning to see this tomorrow. The wife has a doctor's appointment that might put the kibosh on my plans though. We'll see.

Weekend before last I decided to throw caution into the wind and see a movie I knew pretty much nothing about. So, I read the description and it sounded interesting. When the movie started, much to my chagrin, it was a "found footage" flick. Sigh.
Some of those types of movies are okay. It just takes me out of the movie every a friend or colleague is hurt of getting killed yet they still are filming. I will say there are a few creepy moments in the movie but not enough for me to recommend the flick unless you really like "found footage" flicks.

The preview reminded me of the Chernobyl Diaries, which I haven't seen, but thought the location was a great setting for a horror movie. Same deal with this movie, the French catacombs must be spectacularly creepy, and a movie set there would have potential. Unfortunately the found footage aspect can be a real drag. It's funny, the whole point of going with the found footage approach is to create verisimilitude, yet the gimmicky nature of it often takes you out of the movie. I'll probably check this out when it hits Netflix, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

Ended up catching this one today after all. I liked it. Good, creepy setting. The ending didn't bother me all that much. To be honest, I can't recall...

I just finished this. I ended up really liking it. It was nice to see a found footage movie not end
I really liked that we had some pros down in there and not just a bunch of wankers going to party.

I've been curious about this one since seeing the previews. One reviewer's video I saw said that the shakey cam is horrible though which I tend to hate when films do that.

I enjoyed this a lot. Creepy and many times I got that uncomfortable, claustrophobic feeling.
The camera work was not as bad as one thinks. I could actually see what was going on.

I rented the BD for this last night and watched it today.
I found this pretty boring. None of the characters/actors resonated with me and it was filled with scares that I've seen before. It felt like a straight to video B movie for the most part.
Yeah it was interesting that a few members of the group survived at the end, but that wasn't enough for me to like it let alone recommend it. It has zero replay value IMO.
A much better and scarier recent "Found footage"/documentary horror movie that is on DVD is "Wer" starring A.J. Cook from Criminal Minds. Better performances and some pretty gruesome and scarier sequences.

I watched this over the weekend. I'm okay with the 'found footage' genre for the most part, and that element didn't bother me at all here. In fact, I thought it enhanced the claustrophobic vibe pretty well.
Enjoyed it up until the 3rd act, when it suddenly became a feeble jump scare flick filled with a bunch of nonsensical stuff.
