FAITH NO MORE: new album -2015

Faith No More Reportedly Working on New Album

Faith No More’s latest comeback will apparently produce a new album, the band’s first in 18 years.

The alternative rockers' founding bass player Billy Gould tells Rolling Stone the record will be independently recorded and released, with a tentative street date of April 2015. Gould takes production duties on the long-player, which will be cut in the veteran outfit's Oakland rehearsal space and issued on Faith No More’s own imprint, Reclamation Records, and distributed by frontman Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings.

It’ll be the band’s seventh studio album, and the first since 1997’s Album of the Year.

The lead single, "Motherfucker" is expected to be released as a limited edition seven-inch on Nov. 28 to coincide with Record Store Day’s “Black Friday” initiative, with a remix by electronic art-pop sound designer J.G. Thirlwel on its b-side. A digital rollout will happen Dec. 9. The track got its premiere in London's Hyde Park on July 4, one of two European open-air dates this summer for the band (the other was the July 5 Open'er Festival in Gdynia, Poland).

Faith No More's headline slot at next year's Soundwave festival Down Under now makes an awful lot of sense. The group will no doubt test a bunch of new songs on Australian audiences when they play dates in four cities next February and March (they also headlined the tour back in 2010). U.S. tour dates are expected to be announced in due course.

Gould also gives a heads-up on how the new album is shaping. “There's going to be a lot of space and scope -- big, big sound-stage space -- but I also think there's gonna be a lot of those things that we already have. All I can say is what we're doing just feels right.”

Faith No More decided to take the indie route following the completion of their contractual obligations with their last label, explains Gould, without naming names. “It's really empowering to say, 'Wow, it's our clock; we're doing it on our own time.’ It's such a pleasure to be working like that.”

Faith No More returned to the stage in 2009 for their first live performances since splitting up in 1998.

While it'll never top Angel Dust (one of the best albums of the '90s, IMO), I will always welcome new music from Patton & co.

This could edge Steven Wilson's next solo album as my most antcipated of 2015.

I'm cautiously optimistic. It's been a long time, and that's rarely a good thing.

Still, if they toured, and actually came here, I'd buy a ticket in a heartbeat.

I'll give it a listen. Mike Patton's made some great music since the last FNM record.

Always look forward to what Patton puts out. I saw them 5-6 times when they were originally together, so I look forward to a show.

Cool. Even if the album doesn't work for me, they are a band that I've been wanting to see live.

Re: FAITH NO MORE: new album -2015

I really loved this band some 25 years ago. I saw them live back in 1990 at the University of Illinois when I was going to school there. Faith No More had some new band opening up before them called Soundgarden, not sure where those guys ended up. Voivod was the headliner. During the show, Mike Patton swung his microphone over some pipes above him, and it got stuck, so he sang a song standing on his tiptoes yelling up into the mike hanging above him.

Jon Hudson. He was also on "Album Of The Year".

Mike Patton is great and I love his collaborations with Buckethead. I hope they release a vinyl of this.

I'd love to pick up Angel Dust and King for a Day on vinyl but the prices are stupid.

Tour dates are up on www.fnm.com

I'll probably go to one of the Wiltern shows, but I'm amazed they're playing the Observatory. That place is a fire marshall's worst nightmare - always packed beyond capacity on big name nights.

Closest to me are Seattle and Vancouver, and those aren't that close. DAMN. Really want to go but... that'll cost me a fortune.

I'd only go back to the Observatory if I had VIP tickets like I did for the Banks NYE show. Not a bad venue but outside of that show I have only been to the Constellation Room.

I'll do the Wiltern, though.

I'll be at the Chicago show. Haven't seen them since 1992.

Re: FAITH NO MORE: new album -2015

I don't like the Motherfucker song at all. It seems like a waste of Patton, and the lyrics are fairly pathetic.

I would still like to see them live, but they're not coming to Colorado.

I would assume there will be more dates added. I can't imagine this is their full touring cycle when they are releasing a new album.

Faith No More Announces North America Tour, Makes Progress on Album

Faith No More's first album in 18 years is at the mixing stage, and fans in the U.S. and Canada will get a chance to hear tracks from it live this spring.

The veteran alternative rockers have announced their first North American trek since 2010, with a tour-opener April 15 in Vancouver, BC.

The concerts will support FNM's as-yet untitled new studio set, the follow-up to 1997's Album Of The Year. It's expected out this May via the band's newly formed imprint, Reclamation Recordings, which is distributed by Ipecac Recordings, the California-based label founded in 1999 by Greg Werckman (ex-label manager of Alternative Tentacles, ex-lead singer of Duh) and FNM frontman Mike Patton.

FNM's founder and bass player Billy Gould is overseeing its production. And he says it's not far from completion. Gould revealed on Twitter that the band was "in the middle of mixing right now...we're happy."

Gould was also keen to share the touring itinerary. "Here we go," he said in a statement. "First North American tour dates, some in cities we haven't played in over 17 years. We are armed with the new material and ready for whatever comes our way."

Ahead of the home-run, FNM will release a single "Superhero" as a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl on March 7, and in digital formats from March 31. The album's lead single "Motherfucker" dropped late last year.

FNM's 2015 itinerary includes shows in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Germany, Austria, the U.K. and France.

Re: FAITH NO MORE: new album -2015

A lot of people were screaming the presale password at their computers this morning, because MOTHERFUCKER did it sell out fast.

Wiltern went in an instant, but I did manage to snag two tix for Observatory.

Re: FAITH NO MORE: new album -2015

Anyone know if they released all the tickets for the presale or if there are more available for the regular sale? I couldn't get in on the Detroit date.

Re: FAITH NO MORE: new album -2015

I'd assume it's a staggered release, so some today, more during the Live Nation app presale, and then the rest on Friday's gen public sale.
