True Blood (S7E08) - "Almost Home" - 8/10/14

With his prey in sight, Eric reconsiders his end-game strategies against Sarah. Sookie puts her life at risk in hopes of saving Bill. Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) urge Reverend Daniels (Gregg Daniel) to join them in their V-fueled search for Tara (Rutina Wesley). Violet (Karolina Wydra) eyes payback against those who betrayed her, while an old love is reborn for others.

Written by Kate Barnow; directed by Jesse Warn.

What an amazing Tara story! So glad we spent so much time on that.

Not sure what was worse, the pointless Tara story or how stupid the Sookie story is.

I did enjoy the Hoyt and Jessica scenes.

Just when I think they couldn't possibly make Sookie any more annoying, they pull this episode out of their hats. I just can't bear her anymore.

*Let's start our weekly bitching!*

Really Kate Barnow? Is that what you do in the second to last episode of a series?

We can do all the analogies to bad things, we can even invent some new ones. But yeah, I mean, it's not Dexter bad, but it's still really bad. And no, it's not, it's that bad that's good.

The show has always been light, campy, a lot of fun, but this season, and specially this past episodes have been really bad. I've to try really hard to find some redeeming parts.

Re: True Blood (S7E08) - "Almost Home" - 8/10/14

Even after the "true death" Tara manages to have sucky storylines.

I'll miss Violet, that hot, crazy, hot, jealous, hot bitch. I wish she hadn't been taken out so easily. I wanted to at least see her take a finger or two off of Holly's kid.

Obviously they're going to pair Jessica and Hoyt back up. I remember liking Hoyt and thinking it was cool when he and Jessica first started to fall for each other. And then they became the worst, most awful couple ever. Always arguing over nothing and making each other miserable and eventually kind of hating each other. But, oh, sure, they'll live happily ever after this time.

Remember when Sam was actually a major character on the show? He's basically been ignored this season while Lettie Mae, Andy & his daughter, Arlene, and Sarah & her yoga instructor get more screen time. I think the cook at Bellefleur's may have even gotten more screen time than Sam this season. Yeah, the stuff with his brother wasn't the best, but he deserves a decent story. They really should have just killed him off like Alcide.

At least we got the scene of Eric calling her a fang banger that he hooked up with once a couple of years ago.

Solid episode. That makes this season 5-3 in the good versus worst ever category. But I'm all for Hoyt-Jessica since day one so I'm probably biased. Bill's gonna die. Let's wrap this one up.

Maybe when the show ends horribly, I can just pretend those were his final words on her.

Re: True Blood (S7E08) - "Almost Home" - 8/10/14

I'm ready for this show to meet the True Death. I loved the irony that Sookie is driving around Alcide's truck, what, 3 days after his death?, to save her "true love" Bill.

At this point, I'm looking forward to Bill going "home to his wife", Eric telling Sookie to kick rocks, and flash forward to Sookie alone reading her 15 cat's minds on when it's feeding time.

PS Why the F haven't we seen Hoyt's g/f naked on Jason yet?!?!

I never understood the term "Hatewatching" until this final season. It's like it's written by an illiterate fanboy for some fan site. Why can they not figure out who the characters people CARE about are (Eric, Pam, Jason, Lafayette, sometimes Bill) and who nobody likes (everyone else more or less). Urgh. Two more. I can do it.

Bleh. The whole Tara plot line was a joke. Good to see Bill accepting the True Death I hope, Looks like they are hooking Jessica up with Hoyt and giving Jason a nice runner up prize in Bridget, at least he can have kids with her.

Glad that Eric will live.

Jessica chained up in all her pale porcelain and red head deliciousness was hot.

I get a kick out of the Korean guy playing a Japanese guy with a Texas drawl.

I mean, it wouldn't be True Blood if there wasn't a god awful sookie logic story line.

Re: True Blood (S7E08) - "Almost Home" - 8/10/14

I like the fact that Bill would rather die than spend one more moment with Sookie.

It surprises me that the writers on this show never did figure out how annoying they made their lead character over the years.

That Tara storyline was really stupid...I thought we were going to find out that Dad was buried in the front yard - but just the gun? Lame.

They haven't just made Sookie annoying they have made her intensely dislikable with almost no redeeming quality.

I would like her to find the true death.

I would almost have preferred them just use the budget and make it into a 2 hour event or maybe split it into 2x 2 hour episodes at the most.

To me the only characters that have stood the test of time are Jason, Jessica, Pam & Eric.

Re: True Blood (S7E08) - "Almost Home" - 8/10/14

So far this season feels like it exists solely to get every character paired up with the 'right' partners. The last season ended with all the major characters in new relationships and scenarios, so this whole season feels like an elaborate reset button. Need Sookie and Bill together, so kill Alcide. Need Eric and Pam together, so Tara had to go. Need Jason and Jessica together, so kill off Violet and trade Jessica's guy to Team Lafayette. It all feels like it was written with "So do we get to these results?" in mind versus "What would be the result if this happened?"

I agree with all these, and would add Andy to the mix as well. But that's about it.

I'm still generally entertained by Sarah too, but she was MIA for several seasons.

So, was that the end of the Tara storyline? That was pointless. Glad Eric regained all of his power. I still think Bill won't die, but turn human and live with Sookie happily ever after.

The Tara storyline was completely pointless. I cracked up so much when it was discovered that the gun was the buried thing. Like, what the fuck. What a waste of time. True to form in a Tara storyline, I guess.

Hmmm...maybe Sookies one use Armageddon ball can end her being a fairy but give Bill back his soul at the same time...could happen. I still she her being a vampire in the end as the pic at the top of the thread suggests.
