Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/Saw...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I went ahead and threw in a preorder in case the price goes up. Can't beat $17.49 for all 7 movies (comes with Digital HD copies too).

I wonder if it's going to be completley barebones and if it's going to include a 3D copy of the last one.

Amazon listing says 3 discs (which could be wrong).

But I seem to recall most, if not all, the Saw Movies being on BD25 Discs. So 2 movies per disc could work.

Just a guess, but since the preview packaging doesn't say anything about Blu-ray 3D at the top, I'd expect a standard 2D copy of the last film.

I only liked Saw 1 & 2, so I won't be getting this, as tempting as it is at that price.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

I really only remember the first 3. After that they all the films to be one big forgettable mess that blend together. I'm not even sure I saw the last one or two Saw film, to be honest.

However, if it stays super cheap I'll pick it up for Halloween viewing. Though that listing only shows it as all 7 films on 3 discs. Yikes! I can't imagine it's anything other than barebones.

Really only liked the first one. The others get funnier and funnier as they go. I know they aren't supposed to be funny but they do to me.

I've been waiting for this; only bought 1-4 on DVD. Easy decision, especially with that price.

I like how they all seem to intertwine but some of the torture/puzzles scenes are so gross that I don't know how often (if ever) I would rewatch them after the initial back-to-back viewing (and I am a horror movie fan).

I could be wrong, but I think that 1-3 on bluray were the theatrical cuts only originally.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

I'm tempted, i had a few of the later ones like V and VI on blu-ray but got rid of them recently. I was a big fan of the franchise before, but have since moved away from the gory stuff. I still really love the first movie and the overall story enough to kind of want this.

Ah hell, I picked it up too. I have Parts 1-6 on DVD and 7 on BD. Might as well upgrade the first 6 to BD. $17 and change for 7 movies is a steal.

Placed my order as well. I enjoyed the whole series and will be ready to go through them again in October.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

With the exception of part 1, which I believe was only released as an R version, is it a pretty fair assumption these are just a re-package of the barebones unrated blu rays already out?

A lot of the DVDs are filled with extras, so you may not want to dump those.

Yeah, this set looks to have part 1 Unrated and 3 Unrated. 1 was never released on Blu and 3 was the theatrical cut. I have the HD-DVD import of the first one, if memory serves.

I just checked on Amazon. 1 was released as an R rated version.

3 was released as an Unrated version.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

While the box and disc itself mention Saw is the R-rated edit, the Blu-ray is that of the unrated edit. It took the internet about four years to figure that one out.

The Saw III disc contains the unrated edit, but not the director's cut edit.

The existing Saw, Saw II, and Saw III discs do not have most of their bonus material that made it onto the various DVDs.

Saw IV and above maintain their bonus material as seen on the DVDs.

This set should've been given a special edition treatment, not a bare-bones treatment. Whatever. I'll keep my existing discs (which include the 3D combo pack for the last entry).

Having "ultimate edition" boxed sets which OMIT extras from previous releases ranks among he dumbest things I've ever heard of.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

On a 2nd thought, I think I'm going to cancel the order. With it most likely being just the re-packaged barebones editions (for most of the movies), I think I'm better off with what I have currently. Owning 6 of the movies on DVD with all the extras the stuff is fine with me. Also, I don't think this is a series that screams I have to see it in Hi-Def.

This is an argument I don't understand.

With the exception of the last entry, the first six films were shot on film. The Blu-rays are going to be a large difference over any standard definition variation.

I am curious if the first film will be remastered in the set as the current Blu-ray disc is an old MPEG-2 encode.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

I'll probably pick this up given I have none of the Saw movies on BD and I own the three DVD's that would be missing any features. I've been passing on buying the last sequels for years waiting for a release like this. Not sure why it took so long. Only disappointment is the likely lack of new special features.

Re: Saw: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/23/14

I've never seen any of the SAW movies...worth the blind-buy, or just Netflix 'em?

In other words, am I going to watch any of these more than once?
