Peter Pan - Live! (NBC) - 12/4/14 - Starring Allison Williams
If anybody wanted to see Alison Williams play Peter Pan your dream has come true
“We couldn’t be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman at NBC Entertainment. “She’s a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls — where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent — and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish’ vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook.”
"Allison Williams is a major find," said executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. "She will reinvent the iconic role of Peter Pan with her wit, her warmth, her dynamic flying and her wonderful musical abilities. The score will be sung beautifully and introduced to a whole new generation of families."
She joins Christopher Walken, who was previously cast as Captain Hook.
“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” said Williams. "It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides,” added Williams, "what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"
The news comes months after NBC named Peter Pan as its next live production, following a successful go at bringing The Sound of Music to the small screen with an impressive 18.6 million viewers tuning in to its premiere telecast last December.
In a chat with THR in December, Greenblatt was hopeful that they would be able to produce the next live production more "more efficiently" than Sound of Music, which took 18 months to produce.

Good to see her playing the same character her father played on the big screen. Her father is Robin Williams, right?

"Family members confirm she's been rehearsing for this role since the age of 3, and they look forward to seeing her fly."

If you've never heard Allison sing, her character on Girls (Marnie) did a fake music video in one of last season's episodes.

If I see a play, I'm just expecting to hear the audience applause after each musical act. Without that, it just felt odd.

Also, it's cool to see Brian Williams get to play proud papa on TV, but is that really "newsworthy?" It's not a huge deal to me, in that it took about 30 seconds of airtime, but should NBC News be about promoting NBC entertainment programming?

At least Brian did not say directly she was his daughter.
He is still the best anchorman on Network TV as CBS and ABC change anchors every year since they can't keep up with the ratings of NBC Nightly News.

I'll actually check it out. I'm still surprised this wasn't shown last week to recapture the ratings-blast they had with Sound/Music.

I don't know if it was just because he was in rehearsals or what but all of the small promo snippets I've seen for this has Christopher Walken looking like he's completely disinterested in doing this. I'm curious to see if his apparent lack of enthusiasm carries over to the live broadcast.
