Here's a hard one: looking for a song I heard, but I have no lyrics or name

Heard a song at lunch today, and by the time I asked my friend what it was, it was over. Here is literally all the info I can provide:

1) It was playing at Jimmy Johns (not sure if they all play the same stuff, probably not)

2) it was in a mix of mostly 80's alternative stuff. The song right before it was Love Cats by the Cure. Most of what I heard was while there seemed didn't seem really obscure

3) it sounded something like this

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/7BfMgEa40tY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It was a bouncy, upbeat thing. Male singer with a deep voice, was in english, and the main cadence was very similar to this. Think there was a do-do-do, do-do, do-do-do-do vocals (female?) with it too. It was pretty noisy in there, so didn't pick up any definite lyrics.

That's all I got. I realize this is a really, REALLY long shot, but I've seen questions answered here before that seemed almost as obscure.

I'm sure it's not Steve Martin's King Tut (1978) but the song the OP posted reminded me of it in a way:

That's not it, but I'm glad someone at least had an idea about it.

I do need to get that on my phone.

And the Bananarama song is kinda close, but no cigar.

It may be a newer pop song, but most of what I remember hearing was older alternative music.

Kinda sounds like The Human League's "Don't You Want Me"... the snap remix that's found on their Greatest Hits CD.

80's song... male singer has a deep voice... there are female vocals in the song... and the snap remix has them repeating "don't" like 10 times straight.

Otherwise, it's gonna be a tough one to find.

Call the Jimmy Johns you went to and ask which radio station they have on usually. Then search in their song history for the day and time.

Did the colored girls go do-do-do, do-do, do-do-do-do? If so, I might have a guess.

Was it "colored girls" or "all the races"?

It's possible that if the restaurant is using some sort of music service , they may be able to check their playback history. So contacting the restaurant or store is one option.

Also, Soundhound is a music identifying app that you can sing or hum into and get a song ID for. So if you still remember the basic melody, you could try downloading Soundhound and humming into it.

Is the OP still even looking at this thread? Here's my guess:

"I Do the Rock" by Tim Curry

Yeah, I finally made it back. It might have been the Love and Rockets song. It was really noisy so I may not have been hearing it quite right.

Some other interesting videos posted here too.
