Help naming a made for TV movie from the 70s

Anyone remember a made for TV movie about an African American family that's either trying to buy a house or business by doing all sorts of odd jobs? I think I saw it as a kid in the late 1970s or early 1980s. If I recall, there's an older boy in the movie who gets in trouble or is playing music in a band. And there's a scene where they dig money out of a jar or can to go buy a bucket of fried chicken.
