Nickelodeon Cancels "Sam & Cat"

I'm not sure if there's anyone else on the forum besides myself and RocShemp that watch sitcoms on Nickelodeon, but they decided to cancel Sam & Cat today.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...anceled-718195

There had been speculation since the Kids Choice Awards that this was going to happen. It's been on hiatus since April due to behind-the-scenes issues, which resulted in Jeanette McCurdy boycotting the show. Ariana Grande has had a successful music career take off, so with that it sounds like it was a culmination of things.

I didn't enjoy this as much as iCarly, but this show had its moments. There was one that was a complete parody of Breaking Bad that was pretty funny.

I wonder what Nickelodeon is going to do now for content. Their other shows aren't nearly as good. Wendell and Vinnie was one of the best shows to come on the network in years and they axed it last year after 13 episodes.

Re: Nickelodeon Cancels "Sam & Cat"

I find it funny that they finally "officially" announced it as they've been airing commercials about the "final episodes ever" for a couple months now.

I never actually watched a full episode but my son watches it enough for me to know that the wild haired kid and his mma fighter idiot friend need a spin-off. They're the only thing I've enjoyed.

Great.

Less annoying bullshit that my daughter could potentially watch.

Re: Nickelodeon Cancels "Sam & Cat"

I'm down for another Dan Schneider show. I thought Sam and Cat was an ok show, just not good as Drake and Josh and iCarly.

Since iCarly's end, has Nick been able to compete with Disney?

You guys really watch this stuff?

At least pretend it's your kids or something.

Great contribution.

It's easy for people that don't watch it to dismiss it, but a lot of the humor on Nickelodeon shows is geared towards adults (especially anything Dan Schneider touches ( ). Wendell & Vinnie, which I mentioned in the first post, was an adult sitcom so it aired later on Nick than their other standard fare.

They've been doing this for years, going back to the early 90s with Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and most of their other cartoons and shows. I would assume that most kids today wouldn't understand half of the jokes on SpongeBob.

Except Arianna and Jeanette are 20. But point taken. I keep wondering when that goddamn pedobear will finally be busted.

Have you seen these girls? I'd rather watch 'Modern Family' but it's obvious these girls are growing up nicely, especially McCurdy.

Now they are. Jeanette was much younger when iCarly started.

Wasn't he accused of knocking up Britney Spears' little sister?

Anyhoo, I'll miss this show. It wasn't the best but it was entertaining nonetheless. I wish they could have incorporated more of the iCarly and Victorious cast members as regulars instead of guest stars.

I agree with you on Nickelodeon shows being geared towards adults. I have rewatched some of the Nick shows from the 90s and they still hold up for me. With Victorious, there were a few episodes that had some dark comedy. Sam&Cat was watered down a bit.

I agree. Different rumors have gone around about why it was cancelled and a couple of rumors have to with the show's budget and some people have said that Nickledoen was pissed that the show's music didn't sell well.

The rumor was actually started on Crazy Days and Nights which is known for leaking gossip that ends up being true.

The writer of that article is an idiot.

Re: Nickelodeon Cancels "Sam & Cat"

My kids were fans of iCarly and Victorious but outgrew Nick before Sam and Cat started so I never watched it. I did like McCurdy so I was glad to see the new series, which seemed like it had a good recipe for success and received plenty of promotion.

I thought it was cool that a young Grande was in the Broadway show 13 (about high schoolers).

What? There have been zero credible or substantiated accusations about this. I'd argue anyone who believes a rumor with absolutely nothing to back it up is an idiot, and I feel bad for the guy.

From what I read there was a feud between Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande which came to a head when Justice decided she wanted a solo concert without the cast of Victorious. Had Victoria Justice agreed to cross promote the show in concert Nickelodeon would have agreed to one more season.

Victoria was the least talented of the 3 singing girls on that show. You could tell Kat & Jade can both really sing, while Tori's voice was alway highly studio-processed.

I do have to agree. I particularly liked Elizabeth Gillies' (Jade's) singing voice.
