What movie credit (for creative team) hold the most importance/value for you?

Question is in the thread title,

When deciding to see a movie, what credit holds the most importance to you?

I decided to go with the most common credits as opposed to stuff like Director of Photography, Editor etc.

If it's a title I'm not already on board for (usually based on either source material or trailer) it's a tie between director and DP. Cast is rarely a deal maker/breaker...

"Written & Directed by", usually preceding a name like John Carpenter. One-man band auteurs are where it's at, assuming they're great at their jobs.

Re: What movie credit (for creative team) hold the most importance/value for you?

I went with Directed By

They are the ones who turn pieces of paper into the images we see and get the best or worst out of the actors. Also sometimes they can turn a shitty script into something watchable.

I do have alot of respect for someone who writes and directs their own material. But there aren't many who do that.

There are alot of very well known writers, but I think 9 times out of 10, noone cares who they are.

Executive Producers....noone cares who they are unless it's someone like Spielberg, but then again they have very little involvement creatively.

Producers are important, because they are the ones who keep the production going and on time and have to deal with all the bullshit and politics. They also hire the directors and actually buy and develop the scripts. But, 9 times out of 10, noone knows who they are and only a few are well known like Gale Anne Hurd, Jerry Bruckheimer.

1 and/or 2, but not so much 3.

I think DoP's don't get nearly enough credit, though.

Directed by is the most important while Executuve Producer is the least.

I look for and celebrate a Tyler Perry writing/directing credit, so that white boys on the Internet can lose their shit!

Re: What movie credit (for creative team) hold the most importance/value for you?

Produced by Sam Katzman
Produced by Samuel Z Arkoff
Produced by Roger Corman
Produced by Sam Spiegel
Produced by David O Selznick
Produced by The Archers
Produced by Darryl F Zanuck

I know a lot of producer credits are BS vanity tokens, but when you go back just a little ways, the producer's touch is much more evident in the overall quality and taste of the finished product- good and bad...and much to the annoyance of many of their directors.
For just one example- Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca produced by Selznick.

If it was a Golan-Globus production, did it really matter who the director was?

Plus it's a good sign that not too many cooks have spoiled the soup. Something could be brilliantly written and ruined by the director (or studio tinkering), or the director could have taken a pretty bad script and turned it into something entertaining.

When you see Written AND Directed by the same person, the final product is going to be pretty close to the original vision (not always, but most of the time).

Of course, that doesn't mean it's going to be GOOD, but at least there's the impression that the final product is what was envisioned.

I don't really care about the main credits, but if the flick doesn't have a "Will lead to banging 7's or higher" seal of approval, then I'll just skip it.

Also,
"From the wretched spawn of that world-famous director who hasn't made a good flick in awhile..."
