St. Vincent - Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy & Naomi Watts
Story seems generic but I'm a sucker for any film starring Bill Murray:

Seems like a comedy version of Gran Torino.
I'll watch it.

I'm a sucker for the weird old man befriends weird young kid movies (like About A Boy) so this looks like something I'll enjoy.
I get the sense 20 years ago Rosie O'Donnell would have played the Melissa MacCarthy role and Bill Murray would still have played the Bill Murray role.

Miserable grouch redeemed by the love of a cute kid. Been done, and I didn't see anything new in that trailer.

Looks great, though. I'm a little surprised about Melissa McCarthy not doing her schtick in a movie.

Oh Hell Yes! Loved the shot of Naomi Watts working the pole. Will be taking the wife to see this in the theater.

Bill Murray headlines this film about a curmudgeon named Vincent, and how his life changes a bit when a mother (Melissa McCarthy) and her son Oliver move in next door, and Vincent ends up with babysitting duties after school because he needs the money, and she needs someone to look after Oliver. Providing some weird comic relief is Daka (Naomi Watts with a Russian accent, a pregnant lady of the night who Vincent sees on a regular basis.
The film might not sound interesting, but it's a nice throwback to films with stories that deal with unlikely pairings of characters and a splash or two of dramatic conflict, and providing the tried-n-true bits of character arcs throughout the story, even with nods to human foibles and disappointing actions driven by desperation, but underneath the surface, a more careful examination reveals nobility in spite of the rough exteriors.
While it's a very understated film, it does well with the highs and lows and sustains its narrative momentum throughout its running time. It's not a outrageously funny film, but there are nicely set up laughs that come through organically from its narrative, and from the interplay between the characters. It's nice to see character-driven dramedies still being made.
I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

really enjoyed this. Had a bit of an Uncle Buck vibe to it, with a lot less affable character in Vincent. It was formula all the way but I was still happy to take the ride. I responded to all the cues even when I saw them coming. Plus Bill Murray is basically my favourite actor of alltime, and I can watch and enjoy him in just about anything.

I agree with it being formula, but I also enjoyed it. The kid who played Oliver was pretty good.

I saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. It reminded me of "As Good as it Gets" (which, to be fair, I haven't seen in forever). Murray was outstanding, Jaeden Lieberher gave the strongest performance from a child actor I've seen since The Sixth Sense, and Chris O'Dowd stole every scene he was in. It had much less Melissa McCarthy than I expected, but I was OK with that.

Watched this all tonight finally (saw part of it on Netflix France when it came out, but had VPN issues. Fixed them and finished it earlier). Really solid movie, it's a good pairing with Skeleton Twins, both are atmospherically bleak comedies that are very well written and acted.
Reminded me of Up, if they never took off on an adventure. And it got me weirdly teary eyed near the end.

I watched this last night. It was an okay movie, not great but not bad either. It was very predictable. I haven't seen Bill Murray in a movie in probably 10 years, but man does he look really old. I had to look his age up on wikipedia, and it says he is only 64, but he looks a heck of a lot older than that. He looks like he is in his 80s in this movie.

I really enjoyed this. Nothing great, but a very solid movie. Bill Murray is terrific, the kid is good, and Melissa McCarthy did a nice job in a straight role for a change.
Naomi Watts was good here as well.

The end credits with Murray mumble singing while watering his dead lawn and plant was the best part of the movie.
