The box set is much more reasonably priced than I expected. I wasn't planning on getting it since I detest The Heretic but I will now have to reconsider. This is really all about The Exorcist III.

Exorcist II is indeed awful. But, overall that is a pretty cool looking set.

III is a very underrated sequel. It was much more of a continuation to Part I than II was.

I like that they're including both versions of Part IV as well.

I think I will pick this one up.

Re: The Exorcist: The Complete Anthology - 9/23/14

OTOH, I'm really only interested in Heretic. And I'm very surprised, and delighted, to see them releasing it solo as well.
I'm under no delusions it's a good movie- but it's an interesting sometimes mind blowing mis-fire to me and I've always liked Blair.
I wouldn't mind seeing III, but the rest of the box is nothing I need or want. The price is right, but I still think I'll just be picking up II and then III later down the line.

I realize I'm in a very, very tiny minority here.
But I would actually rather have Summer of Fear (aka Stranger In Our House) on Bd, without forced subs, more than anything here.

I will be getting part III as it is one of my all time favorite films. I already have the new set for the first film. Glad they are getting released individually.

Depending on the price I might just double dip on the first film and get the box set. Otherwise I'll for sure get all the sequels.

I wonder if it will include the various cuts of the film.

Sigh. If only they could find that footage for the director's cut of III, what a fascinating what-if.

Wow, surprised at the low MSRP. I never picked up any of the other first Exorcist releases so I'll opt for the whole collection.

I've never seen any other than the first.

Funny, the price for this box set is cheaper than the last Excorcist release with the book.

III is actually based on a book by William Peter Blatty (who wrote the 1st movie) and is written and directed by him. The book is called "Legion" As I said a little earlier, it's more of a truer follow up to the 1st movie as it deals with the fate of Father Karras in addition to a newer mystery being incorporated. Blatty returned after being away 17 years.

Blatty had zero involvement with II and that's why it was regarded as such a commercial and critical disaster. IMO, it was a poorly developed sequel.

Is there an audiobook version of Legion?

One thing I will say about The Exorcist II is that despite not loving the film it has a great score.

Are all the sequels bare bones discs? The low price seems to suggest so.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. I don't think The Exorcist II or The Exorcist III had any features other than trailers maybe. Not sure about the two prequel films though.

Same here. I already own the digibook of part 1 but I'll pick this up for part 3 and I only saw each version of part 4 once each but I don't remember hating either one.

I'm hoping for some decent extras on Exorcist III but I know it's not realistic for that price.

For some reason, I had it in my head that The Beginning and Dominion had both already been released on Blu-ray. I guess I was imagining that.

I'd expect this to be the same as the dvd version of the anthology. All the films had extras except for Exorcist III.

I think given the hack job of a production, it's not realistic for any price .

All the more reason I'd like to see some behind-the-scenes extras. Troubled productions are always the most interesting. Speaking of which, might as well toss a ton of extras on there for part 4 as well. We all know how screwed up that production was.

Re: The Exorcist: The Complete Anthology - 9/23/14

I'm very happy to see that Warners is giving us the choice to get III separate from the set.

Also, that the set's MSRP is so low.

I will consider buying the collection @$20. but will probably just get III.

Until all this talk recently, I thought I was the only one who really loved III for the last 24 years.

Great to see so many other fans of the film too.

I saw it like half a dozen times in the theater just to see that hallway scene again.

Since 2015 is III's 25th anniversary, WB will probably do a deluxe DigiBook next year.

John Boorman found The Exorcist to be a repulsive film and decided to take the story in a different direction with some New Age crap.

This is an interesting read :
