Leprechaun: The Complete Movie Collection - 9/30/14
Press release:
WWE Superstar Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl (pictured) stars in Leprechaun: Origins, a brand new take on the horror franchise Leprechaun, reinventing the cult favorite and terrifying a new generation.
The film will be available on Digital HD, Video On Demand, and Pay-Per-View on August 26, and on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) and DVD (plus Digital) on September 30. Also starring Stephanie Bennett (Grave Encounters 2), Andrew Dunbar (Alien Trespass), Melissa Roxburgh (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days), and Brendan Fletcher (Freddy vs Jason), Leprechaun: Origins was written by Harris Wilkinson and directed by Zach Lipovsky.
Backpacking through the lush Irish countryside, two unsuspecting young couples discover a town's chilling secret. Ben (Dunbar), Sophie (Bennet), David (Fletcher), and Jeni (Roxburgh) quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be when the town's residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland's most famous legends is a terrifying reality.
The Leprechaun: Origins Blu-ray and DVD include two behind-the-scenes featurettes and will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.98, respectively.
In addition, Leprechaun: The Complete Movie Collection, including all seven Leprechaun films on Blu-ray for the first time, will be available September 30th for the suggested retail price of $39.97. The collection features all-new bonus content including audio commentaries from the directors for the first six films, three “making of” featurettes, plus never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage and photos as well as all the special feature content from the new Leprechaun: Origins release.
Leprechaun Origins Special Features
“Leprechaun: An Icon Reborn” featurette
“Leprechaun: Behind the Blood” featurette

I own none of these due to shoddy DVD releases, so I'm all over this. Interested in seeing this new entry, too.

I saw the first one a LONG time ago, probably around when it first came out. Had no idea they had so many sequels. In the hood? In space!?! Just freakin hilarious.

I'd probably get the whole set. Probably pretty reasonably priced right out of the gate.

This is a maybe for me. The first film is sort of entertaining but I seem to remember most of the sequels being pretty bad. Still if the price is right though I might be interested in picking it up.

One of the more ridiculous horror movies out there but I remember having a big crush on Jennifer Aniston after I saw the first movie long before she became famous on Friends.
I had no idea there were 7 movies in this series. Does the leprechaun spend the entire series still tracking down each gold coin one by one or did they come up with different reasons for him to kill as the series goes on?

Thank goodness for the new film, I doubt we would have seen the originals on Blu-ray without it. And new special features as well!

That's awesome and unexpected. I didn't think In Space would ever make it to Blu-ray because so much (all?) of the post-production was done in standard def.
The first 'Hood is borderline-unwatchable. Wasn't masochistic enough to subject myself to the other one.
In Space is one of my absolute favorite movies. Played spastically tongue-in-cheek, it's basically a no-budget remake of Aliens, only the Space Marines are pitted against one leprechaun. A cross-dressing cabaret number, Mitten-schpider, a lepre-candiru fish swimming up a guy's dick...oh, it's just about the greatest thing ever.

I got the first 4 on dvd packaged together for $5.00, but I will glad buy this since I havent seen the rest of them. They are laughably bad, but fun to watch.

They are all cheesey, as are many horror movies, especially of this time period. But at least the original had Jennifer Aniston starring in her first movie role.

For anyone who watched the reality competition show ON THE LOT - Zach Lipovsky who has directed the new Leprechaun was one of the contestants on that show.

I'm in! Really like these boxsets coming out so that I can catch on a whole series I've never seen. Twin Peaks, Planet of the Apes Legacy, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., Chucky, Halloween, and The Exorcist, to name a few. Never seen a Leprechaun movie.

Not as good of a deal as the also recently announced The Exorcist Anthology. The films also aren't overall as good. I'll wait for this to drop to about $20 before considering it.

Prepare to be disappointed. They don't veer in to so-bad-it's-awesome territory for me, they're just kind of there. I don't dislike the films but I wouldn't pay that much to own them. I haven't seen the last one, but HBO used to air Leprechaun 4 and Leprechaun in da Hood constantly in the early 2000s overnight so I must've seen them each half a dozen times, but I've never felt the need to revisit them.

They really aren't that great for the most part and I like cheesy horror films. The first one is dumb fun and the sequel is okay. They go downhill after that if you ask me. Some decent moments but overall kind of a meh series of films.

Exactly. They're not necessarily very bad, just not very good or memorable.
I would have to imagine these are on some streaming service. Almost $30 with tax seems like overkill to me.

$30.XX with tax. Came out to about $4.33 per movie. The library has the first five available and Netflix and Amazon have the first one to stream for free.

I'd buy this set for $20, but wouldn't spend more than that. I vaguely remember one of them taking place in a casino or something. Was that #3? Also, In Space would be fun to revisit, and I remember thinking the first Hood was hilarious. I watched most of them as a teen, but I'm not sure they'd be even remotely enjoyable today. Still, for $20, I'd add them to my collection.

This set should come with an ounce of reefer so viewers can enjoy these movies as they did in the 90s.

I have until Sept 9th to watch the first five and make up my mind I'm guessing not a lot of replay value and the last two are not worth 30 bucks. Already requested at the library.
