Not sure why this game is getting thrown out with zero promotion, but it's one I've been looking forward to for a year now.

Cinematic goodness, solving your own murder AS A GHOST.

I've also been looking forward to it, but it seems like the game is destined to die since it's being released by ghosts as well.

IGN - 5.5/10
The Escapist - 2.5/5
Joystiq - 3.5/5
Kotaku - NO
Polygon - 7/10
Gamesradar - 2.5/5
EGM - 5.5/10
Metro - 3/10
There are more positive reviews from smaller outlets, but it's sounding like a weekend rental to me. And hey, the entire team that made the game has already been laid off, so renting instead of buying doesn't hurt anyone.

I read the reviews and there are some good points about the game but seems they hammered almost the same points...
Controls & Interaction
Demon Encounters
Puzzle Solving to simple; no consequences
Small Sandbox World to actual play and explore
No in game map...can get lost a lot
Pros...
Visuals
Storyline itself is good
Backstory plots of the in game characters
Ghost abilities - walking thru objects, interaction with other ghost and taking over the souls of the living.

I'll probably end up playing this at some point when it hits $10 in a gamefly sale. I can get over the negatives I see being mentioned if the story's good. Just hope it's actually good and not shitty, fawned-over-because-of-the-medium nonsense like Heavy Rain.

Looks like Redbox carries this. I'll probably rent it when (if?) I finish some games from my backlog.

I played about 4 hours of this last night and I'm really enjoying it so far.
Descriptions calling it LA Noire meets Heavy Rain are somewhat accurate, with just a touch of Deadly Premonition in there. The game really flows too. No hard chapter breaks or awkward transitions so far. It starts, thrusts you right into the story and then never lets up.
"Combat" such as it is is a little clunky, almost like an afterthought. Luckily I've really only had 3-4 combat scenarios so far. The rest of the time has been investigating and looking for clues and stuff.
Paid $40 for it. Wouldn't have regretted it at $60.

Redboxed it yesterday evening, finished it this morning. A decent distraction if you're in the mood for something different from the norm, but overall I'd have to confess that the reviews are pretty accurate. I will say that the opening is great, and it sucks you right into the story. The mystery is intriguing enough, and the atmosphere well-realized enough, to keep you interested throughout, but the "investigations" are laughably easy. There is zero challenge to this game.
Not sure about other platforms, but the framerate/stuttering issues on the 360 version are atrocious in certain areas.
Before somebody asks: I don't know how many hours it took me, exactly. I spent a lot of time looking around for collectibles, which are plentiful (around 250) and take up a large percentage of the gameplay time. If you ignore those and play straight through the story, I'd guess it's maybe 6 hours max and could absolutely be completed more quickly than that.
I have to mop up a few collectibles to get the 1000 GS and then I'll be returning it, probably before my one-day rental period is over.

Be sure to do any collectable cleanup before entering the final level of the game. The game will warn you when you're about to do so, and it means it. After that point you'll never be able to go back and find any missing collectables.
