Captain America: The Winter Soldier -- September 9, 2014

From Newsarama:

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Home Release Detailed - No Marvel One-Shot Included

by Lucas Siegel, Site EditorDate: 30 May 2014 Time: 01:44 PM ET 16

Marvel Studios today released the details for the home releases of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, listing what the Digital and Blu-ray packs will include - as well as what they won’t.

Set for a digital release of August 19, 2014 and a 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD, and On-Demand release of September 9, 2014, the critical success and fan-favorite Winter Soldier will include some of the industry standard special features like Making-ofs and Blooper reels. However, it will not include a “Marvel One-Shot,” the short films that have been included with every home release since the first Thor (five in all). In fact, two of those one-shots, Item 47 and Agent Carter have gone on to inspire full TV series, pointing to the format’s success.

Marvel’s “Agent M” on twitter, Ryan Penagos, confirmed the news, saying the “Blu-ray is jam-packed, but I can confirm there will be no corresponding One-Shot released.” While he, nor anyone else at Marvel, is unable to comment on the future of the One-Shots as a whole program, this is the first release since 2011 without one.

So what will be on the home release of Winter Soldier? There will be “Making-of Featurettes, Audio Commentary, Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes, Bloopers, and more” - just don’t expect the and more to be a short film.

To me, the "All Hail The King" One Shot was the only great short. The Agent Carter one was okay. The rest felt like filler.

I'm glad to see studios are finally nixing DVDs from their combo packs. It's about time!

Should we update the thread title? The only thing coming on the 19th is the digital version. I'm assuming most are interested in the Blu-ray/DVD copies.

Agent Carter was fun and a good one. Scary that they're going to make a show of her though...on ABC. *shudder* Agents of SHIELD was boring as fuck for me. So many crap characters and episodes. The latter ones were better but I'd blame that on Cap 2 bringing the drama that fell into the show.

AHTK was fucking great. I'd love for them to continue on that narrative.

Thread title needs to be fixed. August 19th is the date for the digital copy release.

Correct release date is September 9th for the BD/DVD

I'm in for the BB steelbook. Hopefully they get more than they did with Thor because this is going to sell through a lot of copies.

Unless all the special features end up on the 3D discs, this means I don't need to buy combo packs anymore.

I don't think the steelbook cover is that hot either, honestly.

Really? I think this is freakin' gorgeous.

If that's available from Best Buy, I'll be buying it there for sure.

Disney hasn't pulled a Fox move yet thankfully. I've been stuck in seeing 2 Marvel 3D films. Not impressed. They've all been PC films, no? When are they just going to start shooting in 3D?

Nope, does nothing for me - other than being the one of the teaser posters images.

Those are two different steelbook pics. Which one is BB getting?

And by the way, both the 2D and 3D covers suck.

The 2D cover is the international poster artwork. It's almost exactly the same as the U.S. artwork except Rogers isn't wearing a mask.

Left is U.S., Right is International:

So will the 3D have more special features? Because otherwise I'll stick with the 2D.

Some the big Marvel films have been surprisingly light on extras, The Avengers in particular.
