Supernatural -- Season Finale -- "Do You Believe in Miracles?" -- 5/20/14
THE SHOCKING SEASON FINALE - Dean (Jensen Ackles) feels the effects of the First Blade, and Metatron (guest star Curtis Armstrong) makes his move against humanity. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean and Castiel (Misha Collins) face shocking consequences when taking the fight to Metatron (guest star Curtis Armstrong). Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Jeremy Carver (#923).
Episode 23 of 23
Returning for a 10th season in the Fall
Misha Collins (Castiel) will also be returning fulltime as a series regular.

Solid finale to a very solid season (sans about four Gamble era worthy filler eps). The twist at the end with Dean was pretty cool too. So was Helo nuking himself. But I will say, despite therresurgence the show has been going through (starting with season 8) I'm about ready for the Winchester's tale to be over. I'd like season 10 to be the last.

Not a bad season finale. It won't rank as one of the shows bests but I thought it was OK. Glad to see they kept Metatron alive. I also really hope they make Crowley a recurring character along with Cas. I really like what there doing with Dean but I'm also kind of confused. Crowley said that Cain committed suicide to not be a killer anymore but the mark wouldn't let him. So does that mean that Dean's immortal now as long as he has the mark?
Looking forward to next season but I agree on hoping it's the last even though the show is still creatively good. It's just a shame Carver didn't come on after season 5 and instead we got the waste of time that the two Sera Gamble seasons were.

It was a decent season, though the Metatron arc moved very predictably. The problem is they have done practically everything possible with the Angels by this point, so much of it feels like the show is spinning its wheels until the executioner calls.

I think the show shot itself in the foot in (I think) season 5. The ep with all the dieties in the motel and Gabriel getting killed. They kinda painted themselves into a corner focusing on solely the Judeo-Christian angles these past few years.

This season started off strong for me, but then I found myself not really giving a shit towards the end. Might be my time to move along... we'll see.

I thought it was a disappointing finale, after being so invested in the season arc this year. All that effort in Dean getting the mark of Cain and the first blade, yet it was nada against Metatron. And everything else played out very predictably.
I do agree that maybe it's time for the show move on from a storyline centered on angels. Definitely keep Cas, but ditch the rest and work on a new season arc bringing in other legends and mythology.

This. There is so much cool stuff they coud have done with the Norse pantheon that they just wasted. Coulda capitalized on the whole Thor craze too.

I mean, there hasnt been any menacing threat to the main characters since that's even close. All these little storylines pale in comparison to that whole apocalypse storyline.
There's been some humor here and there, but I mean a demon knight? a cross roads demon who's now the king of hell? Metatron? they're all laughable antagonists/vilains
I kind of wish they explored the whole 'God' angle afterwards... Where is he? What about Chuck?
Edit... come to think about it... does anyone think there are any connections with how Metatron is typing everything down in his typewriter vs. Chuck writing about the Winchesters in the past seasons?

I suspect they've stuck to the Angels' storyline because it keeps Cass involved and their FX are dirt-cheap. Going into other mythological creatures would cost a ton of money, the only reason this show is still on the air is that its cheap to produce.

I thought it was a waste to get rid of those characters at the time.

Finally got around to finishing this season. It was a bit of a chore, frankly, but the twist with Dean at the end was the thing (maybe the ONLY thing) that got me interested in watching another season.
I think/hope they're saving Chuck/God for when they KNOW they're on their final season.

I actually really liked the Crowley / Dean bromance so I'm good with that.

Caught up on this yesterday. Sick of all the Angel stuff so hopefully that'll not be a big part of season 10. The ending with Dean coming back as a Cain-level demon made me look forward to the next season. Up until that point I was like "oh boy a Winchester is going to die and be brought back for the 100th time", but this could actually be interesting.

What did everyone think about Crowley's speech to Dean? For a second there I was thinking Crowley was about to say he was God..
