Pass. I can't stand her Oprah-like voices.

The sketches were better than SNL has produced in a long time. I enjoyed it.

She is Paul Thomas Anderson's wife, so I feel obligated to watch in support of him & his family.

I have actually always enjoyed her work, even during SNL.

If you paid for a ticket to watch The Master in a movie theater, you owe their family nothing.

And per Wikipedia, they live together and have four children but are not married.

I forgot this was on and only saw the second half. I thought it was kinda funny.

The Dee's Nuts and Pam's Clams wasn't bad. Not only did Kristen Bell suggestively spread her legs while singing about eating clams but they worked in "tossed salad" into the song lyrics.

I like Maya, and I wanted to like this. But it just seemed lame and unfunny to me. The jokes weren't funny enough, the songs (and singers) weren't good enough, and though the backup dancers were quite good, the leads in front of them weren't.

I heard NBC wants to bring this back for next season.

The baby lullaby was funny

Re: The Maya Rudolph Show -- Hourlong Variety Special -- 05/19/14

NBC is in “an active creative discussion” for more of The Maya Rudolph Show, either as a weekly series or a series of specials, NBC’s president of alternative Paul Telegdy said during the NBC executive session. The variety show produced by SNL boss Lorne Michaels started as a special that aired on May 20 behind The Voice. That special is looked at as an “imperfect first episode,” Telegdy said.

A discussion is ongoing about the show’s future structure and format, including the quotient of music performances versus sketch comedies.

“It is a show we were really proud of,” Telegdy said. “On balance, we really enjoyed the experience. Added NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt, “We were very encouraged by the ratings.”

In a Q&A with Deadline last month, Michaels was optimistic about the show’s future.

It is back as a series and now they added Martin Short.

Jimmy Fallon will be in the premiere episode.

I voted "No" but nothing else is on and I'm curious. Didn't realize it is on tonight.

The name changed to Maya & Marty.

Didn't seem as edgy a show as compared to her show two years ago.

Re: The Maya Rudolph Show -- Hourlong Variety Special -- 05/19/14

It kind of fell flat for me. A lot of the sketches felt like rejected SNL bits. The Miley Cyrus number seemed really awkward and was kind of off-putting. She's not really a singer, more of a performer. I liked seeing Jiminy Glick interview Larry David, but I think it will get tiresome if they do it every week as I suspect they will.

Shit, didn't realize the first part of this was from 2014 and that I missed that show. I saw the new show advertised and I can't stand Martin Short so that was an automatic turn off for me. I guess I'll try to catch them some how, I LOVE Maya...

Re: The Maya Rudolph Show -- Hourlong Variety Special -- 05/19/14

I didn't think it was bad. It works as a decent SNL-like show for the offseason.

I actually wish they expanded past just Maya and Marty and made this sort of a 'SNL alumni' show where they just have a whole cast filled with past SNL performers from different eras. I know they had Fallon and a few current cast members guesting, but I wish the main ensemble was more than just M & M.

I thought the Civil War letter skit was pretty funny.

I'll watch each week to see more Jiminy Glick.

Looks like Miley has added some meat to her bones.

The only thing I liked was the Jiminy Glick skit. But they didn't really even set that up. Does anyone other than old farts like me even remember Jiminy Glick? Or has he been on somewhere since the show ended in 2003?

What the heck, get rid of Maya and bring back Adrian Van Voorhees.

He did a film with the character in 2004, "Jiminy Glick in Lalawood". There's a 32minute "Glick Doesn't Do Red Carpet" special on Netflix (possibly done for Netflix) from 2008.

I remember the movie now. It was horrible. I couldn't even make it all the way through. Probably why I blocked it out.

I'm sure Martin Short thinks it's the funniest thing he's ever seen.
