That being said, I think I'm going to sit this one out. After seeing numerous people say how far downhill the show goes after season four (which we are in the middle of watching now, courtesy of our local library) it doesn't sound like the series is going to be worth revisiting often enough to justify the purchase. We have enjoyed what we've seen so far though, so hopefully it doesn't get too bad.

Actually it isn't. This is the Amazon exclusive boxset. It's currently $490, but has been as low as $250 before.

I've never watched the show, but heard so many rants about the finale that I'm not sure this would be worth it...I'm not a fan of the packaging, either.

You're definitely get your money back on eBay even opened, so this is pretty much risk-free.

Listen, the first 98% of the show is awesome. The finale of the show does tank it. And they do introduce some storylines in the final season that literally don't go anywhere (but aren meant to give side characters direction). But those failings aren't enough to make you forget all the awesomeness that proceeded it.

This is a great deal if you don't already own the show...even if you skip the second half of the final season.

The show starts going downhill after season 4. Still a great deal if you haven't seen it before but I'm finding it hard to bite. It actually might be harder to watch a second time knowing that story lines go nowhere.

I loved the series pretty much up until the last season. That last season though can just go fuck itself. Just awful, awful shit and it left such a bad taste in my mouth I don't even have any desire to go back to rewatching the series at all. Dropped storylines that were important to the show and that you would have expected to be resolved were replaced for new ones that were just dumb. Honestly the first four seasons are entertaining. After that it becomes hit and miss and even though I enjoyed it while I was watching it I've came to the conclusion that I was just going with it and wanting to think it was better than it was because the quality declined pretty badly.

Uhm, wow, they pulled it already. Have they ever ended Goldboxes Deal of the Days early? Whenever a deal runs out they still let you buy it even if it's out of stock, I did that with the Michael Palin travel collection which shipped a week or two later. I have never seen them pull a Deal Of The Day/Week early.

I think this was a way to clear out unsold stock. Amazon often acts as distributor for bigger sets and cuts deals with the content owners to sell them, instead of shipping them back.

Yeah, but that's from a third party seller. I was hoping Amazon would restock and then have another Deal of the day special in the future. Oh, well. it's my fault anyway. I should've bought this when I had the chance.

The best chance to pick this set up for around the same price will likely be around the holiday season later this year (Thanksgiving - Christmas). Typically Amazon has some deep discounts on complete series box sets.

It's never been that price, the lowest Amazon has had it was $160, and that was briefly, other than that, $200 and above.
