Sounds like they're not going to use licensed music this time around.

I loved those games when they were first out. The music was always a good fit into the game. I'd love it on the 360/XB1. Though Blitz kind of filled that niche a bit.

That's awesome, though the lack of licensed music makes me a bit sad.

The kids are saying that this is the highest ever Kickstarter goal for a console-exclusive game. (It's presumably partially/completely Sony's IP, and I guess that'd explain the lack of a PC or Xbox release.)

Why only have an 18 day window? That seems a little short for such a big goal.

Given the platform, it's just a matter of time before this shows up as a PS+ freebie, so I don't have a lot of incentive to back this.

I'm a little uneasy about larger companies using Jickstarter when they presumably have more internal funding availible.

instead of "large company" how about "medium sized company that blew through millions of dollars of revenue from 3 hit franchises on foos-ball tables and booze-cruise company parties, so they're now panhandling on the internet to remake a 10 year old ps2 game."

Amplitude was a cool game, and I will gladly buy it when it comes out. But I'm not helping them get there.

I've become more wary of Kickstarter over time. Still happy I donated to Veronica Mars, but I'm liking it less as a platform to essentially pre-order games that would likely have gotten made anyway. I'm also really not interested in funding a remake of an older game, which is something with at least some amount of name recognition anyway.

Yeah. I'm a fan of Amplitude, but figure this will get made with or without me. I haven't been too happy with any of the game Kickstarters I've paid for so far. Bet this game will at least be discounted for PS Plus soon enough. $20 now seems like a lot to put down now on a game I won't be playing for over one year.

Considering joining this minimally just because I'm a huge fan. I played FreQuency a ton. A year later I called Barnes and Noble repeatedly to see when they would get the Playstation Magazine with the Amplitude demo. Then I played the shit out of that demo. Then I bought Amplitude day one and beat every level on Insane. Bandwagon jumpers are all about Rock Band but Amplitude is where it's at.

They might have done better with this if they had decided to call it something else so it could be on other platforms.

Yep, if it would have been multiplatform or not an insane amount of money (maybe 400-500k), it would have succeeded. I probably would have even chipped in for an Xbox One copy. Now they can just move on to Rock Band 4!

Sadly, I never got in to these.
With Rock Band seemingly dead, this kickstarter seemingly failing and Kinect seemingly sidelined, you have to wonder how long Harmonix will actually be around. Even their mobile stuff doesn't seem to be doing well.

Well I changed my tune this weekend when it became much less obvious that it'll be funded. I signed up at the $20 level to help my little bit, but this one does seem very unlikely to hit its goal. It was moronic of them to pick such a high sum, then limit the Kickstarter period to only 18 days. I kind of want to see this game not get shelved, but I'm far from optimistic.
That being said, I did what you did and kicked in my $20.

I did my part as well.
I have no idea why they didn't make the duration longer... or open it up to multiple platforms. Seems impossible that they would be beholden to Sony for the release of a new Amplitude.
