Gatchaman Complete Collection [Blu-ray] (1972) $59.99

http://www.amazon.com/Gatchaman-Comp...ords=gatchaman

I've been trying for YEARS to complete my Gatchaman box set collection and thought when I heard about these being released that set 6 & 7, which are inexplicably priced ridiculously higher than the other sets in the collection, might actually come down. But ebayers are sticking to their guns and trying to get $100+ for each DVD set of #6 and #7.

So, forget it. I'll get the entire series in better quality, smaller shelf space and at a fraction of the price. I hope anyone else who's been trying put this set together will do the same. I hope whoever still has one of these sets they're trying to sell for stupid prices chokes on them.

I guess I'm just a "little" bitter, huh?

They're matching Best Buy's price, I think.

Well, with the free shipping criteria met, I'd rather save the gas and give my money to Amazon. I don't exactly hate Best Buy but for all the deals I've bought there I've also had to stand in line for hours and spend time on the phone with customer service.

Haven't really ever had any hassles with Amazon.

Is this show worth a blind buy for someone that missed it as a child?

I tend to agree with you (and it's backordered on Best Buy, so even though it should get free shipping it'll be delayed), except for this: Amazon does great matching all these sales. However what happens when there's nobody else to match? I don't mind ordering from Best Buy every once in a while to show them someone's still interested in their media and sales.

Now if I'm wrong and somehow Best Buy is matching Amazon, who decided for whatever reason to put this on sale, I apologize.

Now whether it's worth a blind buy is kinda up to your tolerance for anime of that era. Even with nostalgia on it's side, I'm not sure I'm going to watch the entire thing anytime soon.

I grew up with Battle of the Planets and since have watched Gatchaman several times as an adult and I still love it.

Plus it's backordered on Amazon too anyways.

I don't know about your tastes but one thing a lot of us who were introduced to the show with Battle of the Planets had to deal with, was getting used to the very different voice actors.

The Sandy Frank version was fun and I loved it but it took some getting used to the Gatchaman episodes without Casey Kasum, etc.

Re: Gatchaman Complete Collection [Blu-ray] (1972) $59.99

I own the original ADV sets, but never bought the OVA disk. (For some reason, I was thinking Harmony Gold was involved with that project?) The Amazon reviews don't quite explain, so I decided to ask here. Section23 is selling the OVA episodes separately, but apparently only on DVD. Are the complete collection OVA episodes in HD or SD? And while I typically prefer subtitles, is the OVA English dub the original 90's dub from VHS or from a reworked English script with the ADV voice actors? Thanks.

Disc 13
Gatchaman vs Turtle King 50:14
The Mysterious Red Impuse 46:24
Final Count: 0002 48:59

Video is full frame but it looks much better than the DVD I have below. The English dub appears to be different from a quick listen.
