This show is awesome thus far. The pilot was fantastic and the second episode was damn good as well. Drilling a hole and dropping the guy through the ice.

^ Agreed. I'm glad to see the quality hasn't dropped from the pilot episode.

I was concerned there might be a big dropoff after the outstanding pilot. Glad to hear everyone thought the second episode was strong.
I can't wait to fire up the DVR tonight and watch it.

I completely missed the fact that Bob Odenkirk was the other main deputy until the funeral party.
Another outstanding episode with so many great moments.

So obviously that's not sign typical sign language the guys from Fargo are using. Wonder if it's just an act.
My only gripe, and it's a small one, is the quick flashbacks to remind us what a character might be thinking. That seems unnecessary.

Yep, still great, but felt like it was over so quickly.
Only gripe I have is that the ice auger hole was much bigger than the actual auger. When I first saw the auger, I anticipated the guy getting stuck in the hole.

My god, Billy Bob rules. I love how nonchalant he is between taking the dump, stealing the station wagon, and at the post office: "I'm a minister apparently. You have a blessed day."

Love Malvo. Him nonchalantly taking a dump while being intimidated and then asking for mail for Duluth was hilarious.
Barely recognized Bob Odenkirk.
Love all they structure each episode like a mini movie, including the end credits. Definitely doesn't feel like episodic TV.

He so nonchalantly funny yet equally menacing. So far the officer who pulled him over and the mailman in Duluth both gave in to his intimidation. I can't wait to see the first person who doesn't back down to his threats.

So far, so good. Enjoying it.
I do have an issue however with the need to have characters who are very dumb. The first episode with the brothers, and this one with Phoenix's son. I hope they don't continue to have characters who border on being retarded.

Don't see what's so great about Billy Bob here. He's slouching through his performance like he usually does. Interesting character, though. Him taking a shit while he's being threatened cracked me up.
I'm enjoying the show, but I think the characters are hewing too closely to the movie. Martin Freeman is Jerry and Allison Whatever is Marge, even if the names are different. Freeman's accent is inconsistent.

I think that is part of the magic of the series and the movies, in that they all seem somewhat harmless and dimwitted because of the way they act and talk, but beneath that they are intelligent, often violent, and sometimes, well dimwitted

Someone said Glenn Howerton's role in Fargo pays homage to another Coen Bros. movie, "Burn After Reading", he's playing a character similar to Brad Pitt in that film. Interesting.

Only thing I wish this episode had was more screen time for Billy Bob Thornton. I also don't think the woman playing the Frances McDormand-esque character is very good.

Really enjoyed this again. Billy Bob going and sitting on the can with the door open was great. Especially with the little sound effect.
I am not warming up to the female lead as quickly as I am every other character, but she's supposed to be that bland character around all of these nuts.

Probably a stretch, but Bob Odenkirk's character mentioned the Knutsens at one point. In Big Lebowski Knutsen is Bunny Lebowski's real last name.
