The Raid 3: Still Raidin' (2015? 2016?, Evans)
Since The Raid Part Deux is tearing it up on a handful of screens, let us now prepare for the wait for The Raid 3...
Director Gareth Evans Says 'The Raid 3' Starts 2 Hours Before 'The Raid 2' Ends
Before you start commenting about how everything has a sequel these days, it should be noted that for director Gareth Evans, a trilogy for "The Raid" has been the plan for a while now. The filmmaker hasn't been shy in sharing his ambitious plans for his breakout franchise, and with "The Raid 2" gearing up to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival soon, he'll likely been spilling a few more details about what his third installment will contain. But for now, he's giving audiences a heads up for where it will fit in.
The filmmaker recently shared some details on Twitter (compiled by Dark Horizons) and it looks like "The Raid 3" is going to have some interesting overlap with part two. " 'The Raid 2' takes place two hours after the first, 'The Raid 3' would start two hours before 'The Raid 2' ends," he teased. It seems like the narrative for this series is going to move at an unrelenting pace.
And when it comes to the recent trailer, Evans says it's barely a hint of what's to come. "The trailer is 2min 35sec and with the exception of one shot, it’s all new footage from the teaser. Only spoilers for Act 1 setup," he tweeted. "Naturally, there’s a ton of stuff we have kept hidden from the trailer. About 4/5 action scenes don’t feature at all."
And believe it or not, there is already deleted scenes to look forward to. "We had a 3min 45s steadicam scene in a club but we cut it for pacing reasons. All deleted scenes will be on Blu-Ray/DVD. I’ll do a commentary track, hopefully this one will be more interesting," he also shared. Damn.
"The Raid 2" hits on March 28, 2014, and while you might think Evans will dive straight into "The Raid 3," last we heard, he'll be taking a brief break to make an English-language film first. Details are under wraps (though, as always, plans could change).

If Raid 3 starts 2 hours before Raid 2 ends this will be some 300: Rise of an Empire stuff. It may show what the Jpanese bosses were up to when Rama was kicking ass with the Indonesia clan.

Wasn't Rama stuck in prison for 3 years up to when that guy sat down with him to show face or something? And then it was 2 years later that they got him out? Uco mentioned that they were sorry it took so long to get him out.
The screen did say 3 years later by the time that guy spoke to Rama, no?

Ohhhhhhh. For some reason I thought it said 3. So... He finished his sentence by the time Uco came for him, right?

I don't remember exactly if he was originally sentenced to 2-3 but know he only did 2.

Right.
I would like to know wtf the Japanese guy was saying to Rama. Still I did like where it ended with music playing over the dialogue. And then Rama ending his moment.
Interesting that 3 starts off where it does. Kind of wish it'd start right from 2 cuz I like Rama.

That's what I guessed as well but I'd still like to know what the actual dialogue was.
Raid 2 was really an epic film. It almost felt like Evans was trying to Godfather on us with his scope for that film.
Watching 2 made think that Uwais has really good screen presence and wa was really believable as Rama. My first thought after seeing the kitchen fight was that this film didn't bullshit with you like a Tony Jaa film. Hell... I think Rama could fuck up creepy elephant loving Jaa.

Finally saw Raid 2. About as far from epic as a movie can get. I'll add more thoughts to the Raid 2 thread. I can only hope Gareth Evans learns to edit and make Raid 3 more tight and evenly edited.
