Community - Season Finale - "Basic Sandwich" - 4/17/14
04/17/2014 (08:00PM - 08:30PM) (Thursday) : THE STUDY GROUP DELVES INTO THE LEGEND OF DISGRACED FORMER GREENDALE DEAN RUSSELL BORCHERT - SUBWAY MAKES PLANS TO TAKE OVER GREENDALE - CHRIS ELLIOTT GUEST STARS - The group learns the history of Greendale's first Dean, Russell Borchert (guest star Chris Elliott, "Eagleheart"), a reclusive, wealthy genius who disappeared amid a personal scandal in the 1970s. Once Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) and Hickey (Jonathan Banks) locate the school's blueprints, Annie (Alison Brie) and Abed (Danny Pudi) lead the search for Borchert's old computer lab, which was sealed off years ago. Subway returns to Greendale with plans to take over the campus for a Subway University and they enlist Chang (Ken Jeong) to secretly keep tabs on the study group. Meanwhile, Jeff (Joel McHale) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs) make a grown-up decision about their futures. Jim Rash and John Oliver also star. TV-PG D

Isn't there a rule of TV that says Chris Elliott is not permitted to guest star in a series finale episode?

A wonderful last episode if this is indeed the series finale. LOVED the tag. So glad we got this 5th season with Harmon in charge.

Glad they killed that Jeff/Britta thing, and alluded to Annie at the end, but I wish they would have done something more with that. A little too meta for me, which I know was deliberate in case the show ends. I wasn't a fan of the season very much, slightly better then last, but it could have ended with Season 3 and I would have felt more satisfied.

Wow, they ended this one seeming like they already know they're coming back.
I've been having Arrested Development and Chuck flashbacks while watching this show. Especially with all the Subway stuff for the latter. I wonder how intentional that was?

In makeup, Chris Elliot looked a lot like Marc Maron. I was a little confused about which it was.

One of the btter ones out the recent bunch of episodes. Loved the gag during the credits (poking fun at Ironside).
For some reason, Britta looked really hit in this episode even though she had only a few lines.

Great episode. Thought this season was pretty underwhelming - definitely expected more. Haven't been a huge fan of the "save Greendale" storyline either, but this episode worked great for me. Thought everything was really well executed, and it was the most I've laughed during an episode of Community for quite some time.

I liked it. Not great but very good. Maybe a bit too metta but some good laughs, loved the stuff at the end. Didn't like the whole Jeff/Britta/Annie stuff. It doesn't happen often but whenever they bring up any will they/won't they with Jeff and Annie the show suffers.
As a whole I thought this season was a notch below season 3. Same feel to it. A bunch of average, even some bad episodes mixed in with some great ones. I just thought the great ones in season 3 were better than the ones in season 5.
