Not set in stone, but this is expected to get 1 more season. Most likely a short season of 13 episodes.

So Adam and Kristina are going to find out they have another daughter? Oh man. I don't know how Max is going to react to this sudden new "older" sister.
Way to change things up, writers!
I fully await the Bravermen's to welcome home Santiago next.

They need to wrap this show up.
The last season finale was clearly meant to be a series finale, then they got renewed. This season's been on auto pilot.

I'm greedy. I want another season. Or at least half of one. That was a good episode. Even with this new girl on the show. I mean, I wonder why they never sprung it on us that Adam and Kristina had another daughter. Craaaaazy. I'm sure that whole Lesbian aspect would have been a better point of conflict /issue had it been around the time of her mayor campaign.
A whole lot better than that stupid punch or whatever Adam was dragged into.

This episode felt like a series finale which I guess they did in case it isn't renewed. I would like to see it be renewed but I won't be surprised if it isn't.

That was the joke in the previous thread.
Clearly this was the worst season of the series. The other seasons were great, people cried and stuff, but this one... the season finale was good though.
But, I wonder what they are going to tackle in the last season. The Braverman sold their house, that was a big thing. I don't want a season about Julia and Joel reconciling, or even worse Haddie and her gf.
We will see.

Re: Parenthood -- Season Finale -- "The Pontiac" -- 4/17/14
To be fair, the last few season finale episodes have felt like series finale episodes. I'm sure they'll have one more, at least half seasons. They did lay the groundwork that Amber is knocked up by Luke Cafferty. Oh man, Becky's going to be so upset about that when he gets back home to Tex..Wyoming.
And yeah, I'm sure there's going to be some sort of issue with Joel and Julia. I mean, it's not like they even tackled how Julia never addressed the conflicting issues that led to their separation and is working to be at equal footing again.
Then you have whatever random hiccups that can be caused in opening up a charter school.

This season wasn't that bad but the focus on Drew and his stupid College antics were annoying.
How is he the straight person on the show and Haddie is gay?

Thought the finale was pretty bland. Agreed that this season wasn't all that great. That said, I'd welcome a shortened, final season.

Expected to be renewed for a 6th and final season (13 episodes)
All the actors reach an agreement to appear in less episodes to cut costs. Meaning that someone like Lauren Graham or Peter Krause would only appear in 10 of the 13 episodes.

Since it's literally the last show to have it's fate determined for next year, I was hoping there was still some negotiations going on.
