Nurse Jackie (Showtime) - Season 6 Thread
Edie Falco stars as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant - but very flawed - emergency room nurse. In the sixth season, Jackie returns to the demons of her addiction. It is a daily high wire act with no net. She's trying to cope with a real relationship (Adam Ferrara), an ex-husband (Dominic Fumusa), a daughter who is growing up way too fast (Ruby Jerins) and a sponsor who she can't seem to shake (guest star Julie White). Something's gotta give. NURSE JACKIE also stars Emmy Award winner Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli. Special guest star Morris Chestnut returns, and Laura Benanti and Michael Esper guest star. Emmy Award nominee Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach also executive produce.

Okay. I said in the past that I was done with the show (last season was such a non-event), but once I read she is definitely back to secretly using I was intrigued.
The positive with this show is that it flies by so you aren't too invested but the story is there and Falco is always wonderful. I think I'll stick with it again. Darn my conflicted feelings.

They're doing another season after this? Gonna be stretching those storylines.
This first episode is basically a re-hash of stuff we've seen. Jackie using, daughter is fucked up, hot doctor stupid/lazy, Coop being lonely and being tempted by hot doctor, etc. Nothing new here.
I guess Jackie is now getting adverse effects to her drug use. Before she was a functional user, but not it's effecting her work and concentration, etc? A slightly different angle I guess.

Really enjoyed this season, hoping the finale is where Jackie truly reaches rock bottom and evolves from it... Enjoyed it much more than Californication and at a half hour a week is easy to get through

No longer maintaining a professional and family life, Jackie went right down the tubes so quickly after her detox. Maybe she can now segue into Orange is the New Black!

I felt like the character is just going in circles for most of the last two seasons. The side characters were more interesting than jackie on and off the wagon.
And with the way the show ended this past season, I'll watch an episode or two to see where they'll take it, but it's been a concept that has run its course already two seasons back.

It has run it's course. It needed to end. It was becoming repetitive.

I'm with Dex. Even as a fan of the show, it's time. Since Jackie went to rehab, the show has been a shadow of it's former glory.

The last two seasons were saved by Hot doctor's rack. I really couldn't stand Jackie at all and the constant back stepping into addiction and all that was beyond stupid.
Good it's finally getting taken out back.

Agreed... it really needed to end. The truth came about about her whole life... she went to rehab... and then fell off the wagon and went through the whole thing again while sinking even lower. Either she dies or gets better - but either way there's nowhere else to go with the show.

Not true!
We still need to see Jackie completely bottom out and lose it all. She has been a master of 'playing the game' manipulating everyone in her life to keep using. But gradually things have taken their toll, she's lost her husband, her kids, her friends, her new boyfriend and AA sponsor (that was truly evil!) and now we need to see her go full on bottom of the barrel!
I want to see her lose her house, escalate to meth or crack, start sucking dick in an alley behind All Saints and get HIV and Hep C and in the final show see her wheeled into the ER room where she will die surrounded by Akalitus and the gang.
That ought to last for a good last 6 hours of TV.

I lost count on how many times she has bottom out and lose it all.
I mean, she was married, divorced, her kids hate her, her co-workers don't trust her, she's burned bridge after bridge. The only healthy relationship she had she burned that and cheated on him several times with a dealer, who she also fucked over. She got her sponsor tossed into rehab and now She was fleeing the country and is now arrested for massive amounts of prescription drugs.
If she hasn't hit the bottom more times than any of us could count, I just don't know what the fuck the bottom looks like and don't care to find out.
